Once we've sorted our mortgage application I'll be buying a PC. You should see me on the server in the next few months hopefully.

RAM on AMD matters at lot, make sure the speed of your RAM is at minimum 3200mhz. Quantity doesn't matter as much but 16GB of it should be what you get at minimum.

Gotta be careful however since extremely highly clocked RAM, 4100MHz (i think) and above will stress the memory controller too much, 3200Mhz is the sweet spot with Ryzen.

Built this machine for you on GladiatorPC, they're just round the corner from my house and I've never had issues with anything they've sold me before

Probably wouldn't go for a Ryzen 3000 series, you could get a Ryzen 5 5600x for around the same price, it runs so much better. Going for a 3000 series system atm would just bottle neck a pc completely. Especially with an RTX 3070 and 32gb of 3200 mhz RAM

I don't think this is good value at all, I'm not too sure on the price of prebuilts though so I had a go on pcspecialist just to see. It's more expensive than the one you made but I think it's quite a bit better, I priced it around the same as the one linked earlier from the same site.

For £2,287.00, I managed to put together this:

A few people may pick out a few things as overkill (such as the gen4 ssd), I think it's a good investment though due to stuff like direct storage coming soon which will mean games can use a fast SSD directly. RGB ram is mostly just aesthetics, I picked it as it looks nice and I have the same one in white in my own build.

Benefits with this build:
  • Ryzen 5800x is one of the best CPUs money can buy right now
  • RTX 3070 is one of the best GPUs money can buy right now (almost impossible to get without buying pre built due to stock)
  • 32GB of fast RGB ram, looks really pretty too as a bonus
  • Good looking case with good airflow, this case is one I was considering for myself when I was building my new PC a year ago. You get three really good RGB addressable fans included.
  • X570 motherboard supports PCIE gen 4, good for future upgrades.
  • Extremely fast M.2 2TB SSD, no slower HDDs. This will make a difference especially in the future once direct storage is common. I would avoid HDDs in general unless you need mass storage, they're quickly becoming obsolete due to being really slow and SSDs becoming more affordable.
  • Water cooling because why not.
  • Power supply is extremely good for any upgrades you may do in the future.

You could easily remove things to save more if required, for example:
  • Remove RGB ram for regular ones
  • Decrease PSU to 650W
  • Windows 10 home instead of pro
  • Downgrade SSD to a slower gen3 one
  • Downgrade motherboard to B550
  • Downgrade cooling to Hyper 212
  • Downgrade CPU to 5600x (Try others before doing this, as this will noticeably decrease performance)
  • Downgrade GPU to RTX 3060 (Try others before doing this, as this will noticeably decrease performance)

I still recommend asking again once you're closer to buying it, as stuff can change really quickly especially with current shortages.

This looks insane. I want overkill, I'm thinking more for longevity. If I have the money to invest I may as well get something that's going to stand the test of time.

I will get back in touch once the mortgage is sorted and I'll pop you a little tip for helping.

Thanks all.
