What happened to FL?
#71
The clocks aren't needed and is just another useless entity placed in the world to drop the FPS. The reason I DON'T like it is because it IS useless.
It is great that you are motivated to add things to the server and pump out updates but be careful what you implement into the server. Most of the time less is more and you adding clocks did not benefit the server. It decreased it's performance for the sake of aesthetics. Worth it? Of course not.

Soul being inactive isn't a big problem, Nowadays the Superadmins as well as the staff team call most of the shots except from the very, very large ones (Such as the map change).

Another big reason why FL is in a constant state of argument is because of threads like this that are made for good reason, but people end up scrapping, creates hatred for one another, We should honestly be a lot more nice to each other nowadays in the community, it's best that way.

If you don't have anything useful to add don't add it. Having updates just for the sake of having an update is meaningless and quite frankly f'cking stupid. Yes, the clocks ARE f'Cking stupid. And it doesn't matter what people think because at the end of the day we all know it is USELESS.

It was an approved suggestion that I implemented, it didn't take much time at all as I used the stormfox clocks and just simply edited them to work with the gamemode. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's useless, any approved suggestion is going to get added eventually. You're forgetting i'm just a contributor, i'm very limited in what I can actually do for the server right now. The clock update was also nice for me to get familiar with how adding items works. I feel like i've had a nice balance of updates, with some like the recent associate update being very asked for and many people are finding it quite useful.

Just to reiterate, Pollux. You're doing a great job as someone who has just recently been promoted to contributor. And I actually really like the idea of more updates, and I like your drive and motivation to pump all these approved suggestions out. But you have to remember that the more content added, the more buildup and eventually even worse FPS and stabilization that we will have on the server. Take LL for example, it pumps updates out so often that my game crashed nearly every time I join or play.

Again, I appreciate what your doing and I am very happy that you are motivated to do all of this, but if you really sit there and think about what we can do for FL after reading all of the replies on this thread, do you really think adding clocks and metal detectors is the way to go? Again, I know it was hard work and I am grateful for what you're trying to do here, but just try to have a third person perspective on this development situation and ask yourself if doing what you are is best to benefit FL long term whilst still keeping a relatively stabilized gamemode?

I promise you optimisation has been a major major factor in every update i've rolled out. I re-wrote the weed dealer from scratch to increase performance as his code was very unoptimised beforehand, the metal detectors I made sure the entity detection would not waste server time detecting non-players or too many players at once. The clock update was already on the server, I think that's what people are missing. Admins could spawn it in, I just made it so players can too. I play gov/criminal a ton, I know how it feels to have poor FPS in a gunfight.

The clocks have almost zero performance impact, I tested it a ton on Beta. I am not just adding features without thinking about the impact it has on everyone, it's the same reason why I re-wrote the weed dealer (to increase performance) and the same reason Photon was removed (less server-side processing = lower pings and better FPS to an extent)

This was my intent when I made this thread. Unfortunately, nowadays people are split with their opinions and arrogance rather than speaking together with an open mind what is better for Fearless.

Yes, there will be arguments. But that is the nature of discussions like this. But no matter how much we argue, the server and the community can't go anywhere if we have such 'important' people and 'rolemodels' replying to the thread with things like ''Yay another weekly rant thread'' or any other childish comments that show nothing but arrogance ignorance when they should show understanding and well-structured arguments just like how many other fortunately civilized people have done on this thread.

And again, if there is any way to have this thread not close until we reach an established conclusion will be greatly appreciated. Unlike other threads where people needlessly argue with each other and thus resulted in unneeded warnings to be issued and premature thread-closure.

Thank you.
Kind Regards,

Good point, lets have a healthy, mature discussion instead of immature posts.

If this is the case, and you have optimized everything to the best of your ability and the updates you are bringing out has no effect on server stabilization and FPS, I am a lot happier to see you on the development team than I'd thought I'd be. It's about time we have some decent updates that don't effect FPS or stability.

Let's just make sure we're making updates that will effect Fearless in the long run rather than quick little ones just for the sake of it eh? Wink
