THE UNBIAS VIEW

So thanks to the lovely young boy Tomo I am going to take the most unbias look into the 2 maps as I can, clearly we know the fan favourites are Pines and V2D_Sexy. However both have their flaws and if you are stuck on the fence in what to vote then this may help.

Buildings

So there have been many arguments in regards to buildings in both maps with slander from each side stating "That has more buildings". However let me clarify, out of the maps Pines as shown below has the least buildings to use meaning that on a full server Pines would have the least empty buildings. The maps have the total following use-able buildings:

• Pines : 32
  
• V2D_Sexy : 49
  

As show above in building size V2D_Sexy has an additional 17 buildings (Around an extra 1/3) meaning there could be a lot of buildings that will be derelict most of the time. While looking at the buildings there are many things we must take into consideration, including:

• Size
  
• Shape
  
• Decoration
  
• Window/Door Count
  
• World-Props
  

If you have tested the two most popular maps there is a split in the sense of design. Both maps have quite a basic design which has an appeal to most and most buildings are free of any obnoxious walls that can cause a hassle while building. Each of the buildings have their props and cons. However in this section some of my comments will be personal however some are what buildings should really have.

Pines City

Firstly we will look at the shops each map has to offer and their respective shop-fronts. Along the 'Unofficial' Mainstreet of Pines there are a total of 5 shops which can be used by players. All of these 5 shows have windows situated on the front of the building with 2 rooms; the storefront and backroom. Each building has 3 doors as well as a button to close the window shutters when you're closing for the night, if there is a lockdown or some armed criminals are trying to enter your property. However the issue with the buildings that there is a 'For Lease' sign above the door which cannot be removed so therefore must be built over. The Shopfronts look like this:

There are many other buildings within Pines as well which have World Props, however these World Props are able to be removed such as the Tablets and Cash Registers in 'Burger King' meaning that there is no limit to the uses of the building and no longer do you need to work around pesky World Props:

V2D_Sexy

Now we shall take a look at the Buildings on V2D_Sexy. Firstly we will look at the shops as we did with Pines. However there are some slight issues. The shops within V2D_Sexy are very large with around 2/3 rooms per building. They all have a different style of window without any shutters. The signs infront of the Main street stores however can be taken off the walls which is beneficial for certain roleplays. 2 of the Shops on Mainstreet look as such:

There are plenty of other buildings on V2D_Sexy as well. However many of the props on this map are world props which cannot be removed. There are some props that are not world props. However the ones that are can cause problems.

Map Size

There is quite some confusion in map size of either maps with different invalid comments being thrown back and forth. So thanks to work from Tomo as well as Siphon and Sparx we were able to get a valid look into size and how long it takes to traverse the map in regards to its furthest distance. The total size of each map is:

• Pines City : 125,858 PHX²
  
• V2D_Sexy : 125,140 PHX²
  

So as shown above both maps are extremely close in total area covered by the map which is a difference of 718 PHX² which is quite a small amount if you look at the size of the map.

Now in regards to distance you need to travel. Looking into it both maps seem quite large when we put the last concept into practice however one map after being proven by a member of staff takes less time to travel. This test takes into consideration travelling from the City to Villas and the time it takes:

• Pines City : 40 Seconds
  
• V2D_ Sexy : 80 Seconds
  

As seen above this shows that travel distance is much shorter on Pines City due to its roads in which are direct and do not wind, as well as the roads loop around to 1 location.

Map Facilities

Each map has its plethora of Facilities some of which are good and some of which prove to be not so useful. Both maps facilities are varied between the two maps meaning that most facilities are completely different. However we will take a look at both of them to get an overview of the whole facility situation. Facilities will include Government locations and buildings of that nature, shops will not be included.

Pines City

• Government Building : Large and Modern Government Building
  

 

• Town Hall : Spacious and Modern Town Hall
  

 

• Jails : 8 Holding Cells as well as fully functioning interrogation Room
  

 

• Fire Station : 2 Story Modern Fire station with working 'Firepole'
  

 

• Hospital : 2 Story Large Hospital with Spacious interior
  

 

• Bank : Modern Bank
  

 

• Lake : Large and Spacious Lake
  

 

• Refuelling Points : 2 decently sized BP Petrol Stations
  

 

• Fast Food Restaurant : 1 Modern Burger King
  

 

V2D_Sexy

• Government Building : Large Government Building with 4 Stories
  

 

• Police Building : Modern and Spacious Police Building
  

 

• Fire Station : 1 Story Derelict but Spacious Fire Station
  

 

• Bank : Large Older style Bank of America with Vault
  

 

• Lake : Medium Sized Lake
  

 

• Refuelling Points : 1 medium sized BP Petrol Station
  

 

• Fast Food Restaurant : 1 Modified KFC
  

 

• Pool : 1 Spacious Swimming Pool
  

 

Please not that I only chose 9 locations per map, otherwise this would get very cluttered. These are 9 locations around the map for comparison purposes. Sadly V2D_Sexy does not have a Hospital so for the same purpose I replaced it with the 'Swimming Pool'

Map FPS
There has been a lot of controversy in regards to the frames in which players will experience while playing on these maps. As we know V2D and its similar counterparts have superior FPS for a number of reasons, however the FPS on both of the maps is an increase from what we currently maintain. It is recommend you do not base your opinion solely on the fact of FPS because sometimes sacrifice a few frames can mean quite some different on the visually appealing scale.

So that was my overview of both the maps and a quick run through of the positives and negatives of both of the possible maps. The aim of this was to give everyone who hasn't looked at the map or is unsure an overview of both of them and how they play out against each other. However at the end it is your vote and whatever you vote it matters. Your vote counts and we appreciate the time you are putting in to taking your time to vote on what map you'd like to see next, just remember do not feel pressured to vote by others, vote what you want and that's all that matters.. Remember if you are voting blind I highly suggest you check out all of the candidates, this run-through is only checking out 2 of the 4 maps due to their position in the scoreboard, however all could change. Very interesting that's there's a very small difference in FPS between the two maps, kinda makes the main V2D argument pointless. Pines is so much more pretty and still does fine with frames. The vote is now EXTREMELY close (93-96). Goes to show you shouldn't ever lose hope.
