Got Counter Strike Source installed? Go to the bin folder and start hammer. Add all the resourse packs u need and try it out 
That's how I started today. Just added a light and removed some props that the server deletes on startup. I manage to fix the trees and add all the light needed. Really fun to do but it takes a long time :/
