Alternative methods of travel becoming more popular

Recently, San Ranevo has found itself experiencing a trend in alternative transportation. While the automobile remains a constant on the streets; newer, more social, and probably more precarious modes of traversing the roadways are becoming much more popularised on the roads.

The "Slag Mobile" (known as such due to it's license plate: SLAG) was on the move throughout the city, swerving through lanes and dragging its passengers along from Point A to Point B in dangerous style. The "Slag Mobile" is made up of red, all-terrain vehicle, the Polaris 6x6, with used couches being dragged behind the ropes connecting them together, and allowing them to pull those sitting in the sofas along comfortably yet concerningly, it is a great example of these new alternative methods of travel.

While those within this new sub-community of relaxed travellers see no issue with their ways, a spokesperson for the San Ranevo Department of Transportation asked citizens to "be wary" of such ways of travel, and urged them to "remain vigilant and inform the police when you see them, as they are in breach of our road safety laws, and are a danger to both other road users and themselves". The story continues to unfold.

The Carnival comes to town

On the 30th January, the carnival appeared along The Promenade, near San Ranevo Bay. Several different displays with varying colours designed to draw those with spare cash in were put up with speed, to maximise the day's profits. While the evening started out as good fun, who could of imagined how such a nice thing ended in such misery?

Spoiler :

The day began with grand pomp and excitement for the potential enjoyment that it promised with its colourful aesthetics and rewarding prizes. The carnival contained a dunk tank, a Ferris wheel, a ball game stand, a small hook-a-duck pool, and many other riveting games spread throughout the area. It was all business as usual, even when the ball game stand required brief maintenance for an electrical issue, the issue was seemingly fixed fast however, due to some help from a shady figure who claimed to be an electrician.

Sadly however, the electrical fault was not properly rectified, and if anything, the issue increased tenfold as a fire began due to the problematic lighting system inside of the ball game booth. The employees had to clamber out of their stand and tried to get ERU on stand-by to tackle the blaze. However, it was too little, too late as the flames spread to other stands and destroyed them, causing damage to The Promendade, the stands, and the memories people will have of that day. An investigation has been set up to find out what happened and who, if anyone, was responsible; the ball game stand staff lost all their money in the fire, and the shady figure who 'assisted' with their electrics has yet to be identified, with many believing that this was an a deliberate act of sabotage.

SRN Group: A fall without grace

The sixth of February was not a good day for SRN Group, a new player on the media scene in San Ranevo. While many were unsure of what kind of media the organisation would provide, one thing was for certain, the company's ability to play it fast and loose, whether that be with other businesses, money, or their own employees. However, the night of 6 February saw the SRN Group bite off more than it could possibly ever chew.

Spoiler :

Their fall began with a trip to Estleback Corporation's headquarters, where they attended a meeting over a potential sponsorship deal between the two. SRN Group left the meeting due to dissatisfaction as they were seeking acquisition, and travelled to the headquarters of Vantiago Incorporated to try their luck there instead. Due to Mike Pence, the Chief Executive Officer of SRN Group, and his unsavvy business skills, a feud broke out between the acquisition of Joe's Corporation, another well known company in the city. Eventually, CEO Pence fired his Head Producer, John Roberts, over a disagreement about the group's future. Although not fully confirmed, it is believed that Mike Pence stormed out of this meeting, before heading back to Estleback as a last-ditch attempt to save some face.

Spoiler :

Upon re-arrival at the Estleback meeting table, Mr Pence began to lie about the situation of his own company, before being escorted by security off the premises. Mike Pence tried to play both organisations as fools, however in the end he only showed his own foolishness with these major strategic errors in his flawed understanding of business. In a press release from SRN Group on 7 February, Mike Pence declared that the commercial broadcaster "will remain a private company" and that "we will start a business war... [to] see if you will handle you'r [sic] companies well". The company lost a grand total of $400,000 and 4 critical employees over the course of one night, so what has happened since?

It has been speculated that SRN Group has engaged in a hiring spree, to cover for the lost employees, and may have exceeded it's previous employee count, despite this SRN continues to traverse through murky waters as it's reputation remains damaged in the public eye. The last week has seen several failed attempts at bribing members from other organisations such as the Estleback Corporation, the Shmicki Family, Vantiago Incorporated, and Crocodile Construction. In addition to this, Veritas News conducted a poll on the streets of San Ranevo and out of those asked about SRN Group: 16% had a positive view, 32% hold a neutral view, and that 52% view SRN Group negatively. Furthermore, we spoke to several current employees of the group, and they expressed negative sentiments about the company and it's owner, Mike Pence, stating things such as "The CEO [Mike Pence] is a very foolish guy", "[He is] f***ing greedy", "That man is a crazy CEO", and "I only joined them for the cash, the owner is greedy, I want out".

This would be a fall from grace, if SRN Group ever had any grace about it.
