Someone help me with this bullshit.
I just don't understand when to use "a lot" and "alot".
I am from Norway, my english is good and fluent, but I am stuck at this one.

Alot isn't a word.
A lot are two seperate words.
People use alot falsely, so just use a lot.

The word "alot" does not exist. It is often mistaken with the word "a lot"
The word "allot" exists though.
"The verb 'to allot' means 'to give out', 'to apportion', 'to divide' or 'to distribute'. (Other forms of the verb are allots, allotted and allotting.)"
For example: "I will allot a radio to each group."

Thank you, guys.
That's what I thought, I just didn't understand that everyone on the forum used "alot" when I thought it was "a lot".
I thought I was wrong, but I was right. Thread can be closed.

'A lot' is the proper English version. Whereas 'alot' is internet talk for people too lazy to press the space bar.
