Development - Web Updates

Hi all, hope you are well. I just wanted to collectively update everyone on all of the much needed changes that we have been working on behind the scenes over the past few weeks or so for forums/web apps in an effort to continue being completely transparent and informative with the community. Apologies in advance for all the explanations if you're not a reader / have a lower attention span. If you don't want the details, you can read the TL;DR below.

Page Changes

Bans/Blacklists/Points/Proplimit pages now all follow the same style and back-end system with lightning fast database lookups for searching. The old pages used to run on a platform called Ajax which added extended loading times that were just not needed.

The statistics page now runs on a much quicker backend, heavily reducing the loading times. In fact, it should be just as quick as any page on the website now. The way that live data is kept has been changed, meaning the server doesn't need to search for this information, previously resulting in more delay.

The donate page has had a much needed update. This update allows relevant staff to track payments and types of donations and to which players they were given in a much more efficient and secure manor. Not only this, but the in-game processing of donations should be almost instant now.
Please note: all payment details are secure and only Divey is able to access PayPal receipts and IRL information. All previous transactions prior to this update were secure via the PayPal framework and no details have ever been compromised.

Backend Updates

As previously heard, we are now running on a new server setup. This new setup has been constructed with not only power and efficiency in mind, but security and integrity. Due to downtime and recovery processes we previously experienced, very frequent off-site backup jobs are now running constantly, without the need for human intervention. Should the worst happen (hardware failure, natural disasters, etc), we have off-site encrypted backups in place, meaning data remains safe and secure. In turn, very minimal loss could ever occur again. On top of this, we have local backup hardware configuration in process, meaning the server could still run without loss if a drive was to fail.

The software on our now independent web server has been changed after some research. Along with the server's hardware and network, the current software is the best on the market to deliver pages to clients as quickly as possible, meaning you can load up as many shitposts as you like without needing to wait for connection responses!

The forum platform we run on (MyBB) has also been upgraded and all the backend has been repaired such as older plugins that were causing some issues, etc.

After various testing, pages now load in 0.7s on average compared to 2.4s previously, which is a 70% decrease in loading time!

The old CAPTCHA systems have been removed and replaced with Google's latest invisible reCAPTCHA system, making registration for users, password resetting and more much less painful.

The way that the forums now communicate with Steam has been fixed and optimised. You can also now login with your steam account once connected to your forum account. This means if you forget your forum password or lose access to your email address, you can still authenticate and update your information after logging in with Steam. This is also a great feature for older players to return to the community with ease.

Go ahead, try it below:

Forum Icons have also been repaired and are all themed.

TL;DR: All external pages such as bans, blacklists, points, stats, etc. are improved both visually and behind the scenes. The forums are 70% quicker than they were because of new systems, and backups  are constant, secure and off-site. You can now login to your Forum account with Steam if linked.

All relevant credits to each of the developers for their work. Please see the Changelog page!

That's all for now, take care guys!
Regards,
Edned
