History & Rituals of the family

Since the end of World War II, yakuza gangs have rebounded in popularity after a lull during the war. The Japanese government estimated in 2007 that there were more than 102,000 yakuza members working in Japan and abroad, in 2,500 different families. Despite the official end of discrimination against burakumin in 1861, more than 150 years later, many gang members are descendants of that outcast class. Others are ethnic Koreans, who also face considerable discrimination in Japanese society.

Traces of the gangs' origins can be seen in the signature aspects of yakuza culture today. For example, many yakuza sport full-body tattoos which are made with traditional bamboo or steel needles, rather than modern tattooing guns. The tattooed area may even include the genitals, an incredibly painful tradition. The yakuza members usually remove their shirts while playing cards with each other and display their body art, a nod to the bakuto traditions, although they generally cover up with long sleeves in public.

Another feature of yakuza culture is the tradition of yubitsume or severing the joint of the little finger. Yubitsume is performed as an apology when a yakuza member defies or otherwise displeases his boss. The guilty party cuts off the top joint of his left pinkie finger and presents it to the boss; additional transgressions lead to the loss of additional finger joints. 

This custom originated in Tokugawa times; the loss of finger joints makes the gangster's sword grip weaker, theoretically leading him to depend more on the rest of the group for protection. Today, many yakuza members wear prosthetic finger tips to avoid being conspicuous.

The largest yakuza syndicates operating today are the Kobe-based Yamaguchi-gumi, which includes about half of all active yakuza in Japan; the Sumiyoshi-kai, which originated in Osaka and boasts about 20,000 members; and the Inagawa-kai, out of Tokyo and Yokohama, with 15,000 members. The gangs engage in criminal activities such as international drug-smuggling, human trafficking, and arms smuggling. However, they also hold significant amounts of stock in large, legitimate corporations, and some have close ties with the Japanese business world, the banking sector, and the real estate market. 

Our Appearance

our family presents itself from the outside very classy and structured. Mostly we appear in smaller groups or companies. You can recognize us by the black and red suits and the dark red cars. However, if it put someone against a family member, he can quickly count with a knife in the back

Our Rangsystem

Oyabun (English: Chef)
The "Oyabun" the main-leader of the family. He's the "father". He's the one who leads the complete Family. if you can not follow him, you can't be a part of the yakuza.

Kyodai (English: Huge)
The "kyodai" is the deputy-leader of the family. He's the right hand of the Oyabun and is a important part of the family. He's like a brother for the Oyabun. His commands must be respected and be executed.

Administration

Komon (English: Advisor)
The "Komon" is one of the important ranges of the yakuza. He's the advisor from the leaders. his voice is about as important as that of the leaders. He's the one, if you want something from the leaders, then go to him.

Shateigashira (English: Standing Head)
The "Sateigashira" is the leader of recruiters. He's the person who ever keep a cold head and the person who calms everybody down.

Saiko (English: The oldest)
The "Saiko" is a recruiter of the family. He recruits aonisai and people who want a higher position in the clan. He's a very loyal and reliable member of the family and is essential in the "administration".

Kobun (English: Ancient writing)
The "Kobun" is a Apprentice trainer, he has proven his loyalty and shown interest in training new members.

Shingiin (English: New member of parliament)
The "Shingiin" is the first rank in the "administration", his vote is important for big votes/decisions (like as promotions) and he has good chances to get a higher rank. But otherwise it is like a normal "Shatei" apart from being higher than the "Kaikei" but of course, he must listen to the "Kaikei" in fights or something. He is mostly used as a hitman.

Family-Members

Kaikei (English: Accounting)
The "Kaikei" is the leader of the normal troops. He leads the family in fights, raids etc. In addition, he is usually a security employee in public casinos or other businesses and initiates actions such like protection money.

Shatei (English: Range)
The "Shatei" is a loyal and reliable member of the family. He's just a normal member but he has proven reliability and loyalty and has good chances to get a rank up. From this rank you can be used as Hitman.

Gakusha (English: A scholar)
The "Gakusha" is a full trained member of the YaKuZa and knows all basics (raids, hostage-taking, contract killings etc.).

Futokorogatana (English: Fatal fluttering)
The "Futokorogatana" is a experienced member of the family and already knows relatively well.

Menba (English: Member)
The "Menba" is just a normal member of the family and has no special rights.

The "Aonisai" is a new member of the family. he is still in the "test phase" and it will turn out if he is a real member of the family will be. Therefore, only very few internal data are given to him. He has no rights and must listen to all orders.
