Might I suggest getting AVG free edition?
I've been using it since 2004 and I've never had any viruses (that I know of) apart from one major one which was entirely my fault (I let it run even though AVG came up with thousands of warnings about it). That one took literal weeks to get rid of. I had to delete EVERYTHING from my PC and start again from scratch. Turns out one little virus quickly grows up and makes lots more little viruses. P.S. I have been developing self replicating programs for years which I have to be careful when using. But every time I load up the program I have to start it off my avg pops up and says... "dude... wtf are you doing?" So it works... a lot...

When your searching for porn, and it ask you to run Awsome_nice_lesbian_maximum_dildo_action.EXE Then dont do it.
