Up to 1408 MB HyperMemory
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics
(yes, its pathetic, you think I dont know? I dont need anyone bitching to me about how poor I am, thanks.)

So, my computer is telling me that it is a MIRACLE if I get GTAiv running, ofcourse, me, a stubborn guy, decided to push the limits by screwing around with it as much as possible until I got an end product that I could play. This involved a commandline, a few tweaks involving Windows stuff, and you know, all that. Ofcourse, something HAD to have gone wrong, and it wasnt good. First, the game launched, then loaded through the character slideshow, but got stuck on the safehouse loading at the beginning. The loading bar starts going REALLY fast and in a beat with no bumps or skips to show loading. Eventually after that it crashed. I fixed that. Then, I launched it, and thought I had taken a huge step forward after GTA being broken for some time. In the meantime of me tweaking to launch GTA, I had accidently totally undid ALL the tweaks allowing me to play smoothly, so I couldnt even walk. Had to end that session and work from there. I decided to delete the Police mod I had installed, as well as the Carpack, they were both fairly large mods. That made it so that the game crashed before the first main menu, after the R's go through, its the "GTAIV.exe is not responding" everytime. I realized I was only on Patch 1.0.3.0 and Rockstar Games™ was all the way up to Patch 1.0.7.0. So I installed the Crack and Patch to fix it up, Razor1911. Of course, still broken. Now I have just decided that I hate dealing with this game and to reinstall it. So, I will start fresh, I will add graphics tweaks as my system is ridiculously slow. Then, install the new Patch then get it started.

On another note, this happened earlier, and I figured out it was a shortage of vram but I will explain. I was playing the game for a few months and one time after I joined (I believe I was screwing with mods) there was a HUGE textures and rendering error... everything had NO texture and everything from... lets say 5' away was invisible... except lights. That is what made me go on this buttsecks rampage and almost kill myself.

You have gotten far, time for the questions!

First off, what is there to do to make GTA go faster?
I have the launch options on Steam set to "-safemode -height 600 -width 800" so it runs a bit faster, but is changing the GTA launch options the same as adding commandline.txt?

Secondly, will reinstalling it totally clean up and delete all unnecessary files, leaving me with a fresh start?

Thank you, ANY TIPS, ARTICLES, PICTURES, ADVICE would be SO helpful. Thanks Fearless.

3 GB Memory (What is that?) - That would be RAM

As for making GTA IV run faster, there are countless tutorials all over the web - it takes more than 1 minute to google the good ones out, so I'll leave it up to you.

Yes, reinstall will leave you with a fresh start. GTA IV modifications aren't added content like they are for Gmod or CSS, but they're interchangeable with the original game files - thus when you download a custom car, it replaces a car in the game. You delete the custom car without making backups of the original files = screwed.

Also, GTA IV eats up even more of your computers resources when you've got custom content installed.

The best is you don't install all these mods.

Then change the settings in the menu to low so that you have a green bar with enough free space.

Alright thank you guys, that is simple and EXACTLY what I needed, and one more question for killjoy...

You say RAM, is that VRAM? What?

So, I have backups of the original cars and SparkIV so if worse comes to worse I will be set, I just hope everything is better, thank you so much guys.

You have no idea of PC's, huh? Random-access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage.

I am actually decent about computers but I have always been confused about Memory and Storage and different types of RAM and BLAH! Thank you, the game is NOW WORKING Cheese

Yeah, did you completely not read the thread or something Biowulf?
Oh and lastly, is it the more RAM you have the more data you can process at once or the faster you can process it?

No, thats the CPU. If you have a fast processor with 2 or more cores you can hear music, write an E-Mail, watching porn and playing on the fearless gmod server at the same time without crashing your PC.

I think you'll just need to buy a better processor. You at least need like an i5 to run it properly. My Processor also sucks. I play it on the lowest graphics, with a lil' bit of lag.

PS; I am dissapoint that you don't know the game..
