New Bethesda Game Announced - 'The Evil Within'

The Evil Within

The mysterious teaser images for Bethesda’s next game have been confirmed as survival horror Project Zwei, now officially known as The Evil Within.

The Evil Within will be the first game from Tango Gameworks, a new studio set up by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and who were bought by Skyrim publisher ZeniMax/Bethesda Softworks.

IGN currently has the exclusive on the trailer, but they don’t seem to have been provided with any additional information or a preview. Although more information is promised for Monday.

The only info we have on the game is that it’s a survival horror for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Oddly there’s no mention of next generation versions, even though the game is not due for release until next year.

‘We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,’ said Mikami in a short press release. ‘My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.’

That means that the only real information is what can be gleaned from the gruesome trailer below, which is live action and doesn’t seem to feature any in-game feature. We do warn you it’s pretty horrible though and probably not safe for work.

From a first watch the trailer seems to involve a man at workbench creating something out of barbed wire. Behind his back some demonic looking creatures appear to be trying to get in, while a flick of blood on the floor sees one growing out of the floor.

The trailer also features another figure that seems to be wearing a butcher’s apron and carrying some sort of weapon. A third character looks like he’s covered in shards of glass.

We’re sure there’s a lot of misdirection going on in the trailer (is the barbed wire figure the hero or the villain?) but it’s a million miles away from the B-movie cheese of Resident Evil.

Official Teaser Trailer ***WARNING NSFW - GRAPHIC IMAGERY***

The first screenshots from the game have emerged via website All Games Beta ( http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2013/04/the-...kamis.html ), infamous for leaking out official images early. These are all trademarked with IGN’s logo, so we assume they’re from the preview promised for Monday. They don’t really tell you much more, although can see what seem to be decomposing zombie-like enemies as well as the multi-armed monsters from the trailer.
