Driving Techniques: How to Drift with Style!

HOW TO DRIFT... IN STYLE!

I have not tried many vehicles, but for drifting, I seriously and strongly reccomend: The Lotus Elise. Though the Modena and the Supra are good too.

Do not use the Mustang, or any "tall" car. Use a flatter model to avoid flipping over.

The Lotus Elise has awful steering at high speeds (and has slightly stiff suspension, which is for the better!), which is why during chases and races, mastering drifting is essential! In this tutorial I will focus mainly on the handling of the Lotus. Other cars may vary, so experiment with techniques if you are using a different vehicle.

1. Approach the corner.
Pretty straight forward.

2. Press the left/right directional key.
Whichever direction you intend to go, steer that way.

3. Tap the handbrake.
On normal settings, the handbrake button is the Space bar. Just tap it firmly, and once only.

4. Now steer in the opposite direction.
This makes the back end of the car kick out, and you will begin sliding.

5. When your car is nearly parallel to the road ahead, steer towards it again.
This stops the car from spinning out.

6. Keep steering in that direction until the car stops sliding.
Be sure to stop steering as soon as you can, to avoid accidentily steering off the track (and into a wall).

7. Align your car to the road.
You have successfully completed a drift! Imagine your friend's face!

Drifting takes quite a bit of skill, so don't worry if you span out or understeered on your first try. Practice makes perfect, and perfect is not to be without trying!

Hope this helped you!

It's not so much "Do a barrel roll!" as "Go ahead and kill yourself!"

I tried drifting in a Mustang once. It hurt.
