LOVED IT!
Yes, the book has been... changed and an incredible amount of new stuff was put in. It also it a bit cheerier that LOTR (although the book is cheerier as well). The visuals are simply stunning, since I've watched it in 3D. All in all, the cast, the writing and the visuals are breathtaking.
Definitely recommend this to be watched.
I spend hours reading any sort of Tolkien wiki out there... gathering knowledge

I enjoyed it, shame their wasn't as much fighting as the others but all in all it was still an amazing movie to watch. Like all movies it does have some flaws in the characters logic, like when he had the ring and the white orc was just about to kill the Dwarf prince. Why not instead of rugby tackling him slip that bling on and kill him.

I saw it in that funky 3D version too. This was the first 3D experience I've ever tried, because I am half blind on my left eye, so the normal red-blue 3D doesn't work for me.
Anyhoe, the film was amazing. Really fascinating.
Btw, did anyone else see that tiny lil' Elder Scrolls-thingy in the forrest scene, with the soulstone and the animal that was possesed by darkness?
