What genre do you dislike the most... and why?

The Genre You Dislike The Most!
I thought I would try something different. Seen as though I keep seeing threads regarding what you are currently listening to and so on, I decided to make a thread dedicated to the genre you really dislike the most.
So lets begin...

I really dislike heavy metal and old school rock music. My reason for this is simple, as a young boy I was introduced to screamo, post hardcore, pop punk, crabcore and metalcore... since then all I've known and loved is this kind of music and at the moment i absolutely adore the likes of:

Of Mice And Men - Miss May I - Bring Me The Horizon - Architects - Attack Attack - Volumes - Periphery - Memphis May Fire - Capture The Crown

These are just a few of the many bands I play full blast in my room. I've tried listening to older rock but my mind refuses and it honestly makes me want to hit my head off a wall.

No hating Cheese Just general opinions and commnets!

Get set.... Go![/b][/align]

Mr. Higgles-Worth: Crabcore? SOUNDS LIKE A BAD PORNO!!!

But seriously, Its just going ape-shit with a guitar while shouting gibberish.

Not to incite any anger, but it's gotta be Metal for me. I like a bit of metal (some Symphonic metal stuff mostly,) and I love Grunge (which is apparently a type of alternative metal(?)) but everything else goes completely over my head. I like Symphonic metal, because the heaviness of the guitars and sound is usually taken as a contrasting and/or ironic edge against the softness of the "symphonic" part of it, but otherwise, that same heaviness usually turns me right around and out the door. And it doesn't help that the general aesthetic doesn't do it for me, especially when the more ridiculous lyrical and visual aesthetics are taken 100% seriously.

I'll come out to defend what's likely the 3 most hated genres of Rap, Pop, and Country (in that order, I'm guessing.)
While Rap does have a pretty rotten half, the other half offers pretty unlimited creativity in lyrical content. And hip-hop in general can be incredibly varied, while keeping the common stylistic elements of hip-hop. You can make music with just about any feel or theme, which is what happens.
With Pop (and rock-pop, etc,) I'll defend that it accomplishes its task of being catchy. Something is needed that everyone will be able to move to from the background, and pop's necessarily got the kind of beat and lyrics that at least clicks with everyone. I'd also love it if people didn't go crazy over pop artists, but that's more an issue with the "community base" than the genre in itself.
And Country's actually something that I kinda love. Just the general feel of the music clicks with me, if not the refreshing change it offers from other stuff. I could see why someone would not like it, but I don't really see how anyone could *hate* it.

Some people think that kind Crabcore and Metalcore (for instance: Abandon All Ships or Of Mice and Men), is just pointless, meaningless shouting with guitars on steroids. However, if you listen to the song Second and Sebring by Of Mice and Men with the lyrics open in another tab, the lyrics are actually really powerful. The song was dedicated to Austin's (lead vocalist) mother who died when he was younger - to which he quotes "This time I'll make you proud..." and also "This is not what it is, only baby scars, I need you love like I boy needs his mothers side".

Every gig he performs, he actually sheds a tear, so although it may be just shouting to one person, its meaningful phrasing to another. (Just my point of view) Cheese

This song is about Austin's mother who died in 2007 of Marfan Syndrome. She died in their family home in Sebring ct. on the corner of 2nd street, hence the name. The song is saying that she taught him so much, and although he misses her he is moving on from his grieving to do what she would want him to do, which is be successful. This song tells that his goal in life is to make his mother proud, and he is letting her know that. It's pretty obvious, actually, if you actually listen to the lyrics.
Second & sebring - of mice & men the normal singing is realy beautiful but the screams are too soft they should try to grouwl and not scream Cheese!!

More or less agreeing with what I said except you went in to detail of the song Smile I just said it was dedicated to his mother who died when he was younger... 2007 makes him younger haha!

Well put though.

it's also a shame Shayley left as he was a great vocalist but at the same time, if you have your own personal issues to deal with, that comes before a band.

I don't even how it's music, it just sounds like an autotuned dial up tone on loop.
