Why should you be unbanned?

I was banned on 7/5/21 due to repeated, distasteful comments directed towards Arny, compounded
by a history of unkind remarks to staff members. Reflecting on this, I recognize that my actions
were immature, driven by misguided attempts at humor and poor decision-making.

I am content with the decision to ban me. When I talked it over with a staff member at the
time, I decided I just had to let go. Any video I had made regarding the server are now
permanently deleted as I have deleted almost all social media accounts as it is generally
a period of my life I want to put behind me.

It is clear to me that my behavior has obviously not been acceptable, and especially not over
the period of time it had occurred. As I am writing this on 10/10/2024, three years have
come to pass since I made my original unban request. At this time, like I discussed with
staff then, I was argumentative and had not changed behavior since the last time I was
permanently banned. I am firm that this is a behavior that I do not wish to engage
in any further, let alone have the energy to. As a result of my ban I ended up never
really touching Garry's Mod again, only ever opening it to play niche, fringe gamemodes
like "prophunt" or "TTT" with friends.

In the meantime, I have grown as a person, I am in a relationship, and
I now have a full-time job. As a result, I don't have as much
free time to dedicate to the server, but I still feel a desire to check in as often
as possible.

I have thought about making the unban request for a few months now.

My forum account was made around 2013-2014, where I would have been around the age of 11. I ended
up playing the server religiously by 2016, and I remember in great detail the friends I had made
(and lost) whilst playing on this server. It did end up being a large part of my formative years
in that sense, which is why I still feel a great attachment to it.

I remember saving up over a longer period of time to buy the BMW, and it is a memory I am very
fond of. The experience playing on the server is something I have never been able to find
anywhere else, it is completely unmatched, and I failed to appreciate this at the time,
which is something I deeply regret.

It feels fair to note that I have, at times, directly contributed to the forum/server.

I made a series of bug and exploit reports related to cross-site scripting attacks, some stored.

I also discovered an exploit in how comments were handled that was unfortunately exploited by
a friend before I had time to report it. I also reported an exploit where you could remotely
lag the client of players using private messaging.

I say this to make it clear that I have acted in good faith, and have wanted to contribute to the
server.

I would like to apologize to Arny: my hostility at the time was unwarranted, and it wasn't fair
for me to square up against someone who was actively trying to improve the server that I
enjoyed playing on.

I hope you and the staff are willing to reconsider the decision.

Hey Cygnus,

I've looked into the ban, the previous UBR and related communication you had with Conn at the time. I don't think there's much point in talking about the ban itself, as you've already admitted it was wrong. Due to the time that has passed since and the statement that you've provided here, I'm willing to unban you with the following condition:

a) If you show any behaviour similar to what I banned you for, I will re-apply the ToS ban.

I'm going to assume you accept this condition and lift the ban now on all of our services. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
