Here's a tip I unfortunately learnt the hard way when I was playing at midnight. Esc doesn't pause the game.

I'm telling you now. Those cannibal people can sometimes really make you jump :3 The first time I played it I was building a house on the beach at night and out of nowhere I just hear the weird music and I'm getting hit. This game never warns you about what's around the corner.

Actually this is the second rust but Then made 10x better. Will buy this for sure as huge lover of survival and horror games.
