This thread is shit but i'd like to point out that we are one of the best dike builders of the world, i think we will do just fine the upcoming years.
I'm not denying that, although given the sea level position. It means your more prone to floods and if a large scale flood was to happen it would be a catastrophic event, given it would mean immediate evacuation and permanent displacement.
This has been the situation for over 200 years. We already experienced something called "the great flood" and it was indeed a catastrophic event but that was over 60 years ago and luckily hasnt let to permanent displacement.
