Thank god someone else is getting this. I thought it was a new set of headphones I bought.
I think it's something to do with surround sound and stereo, as when changing headphone settings I could get a tiny bit of a gunshot noise in third person. For now, just listen for bullets hitting walls and use first person if you want to hear your own gun sounds
