Last thing to try then, this did fix it for many people.
-- Press Windows Key + R, type in DEVMGMT.MSC and click [Ok], expand [Sound, video and game controllers], right click on your sound card, select [Uninstall], and say yes to the reboot. After the reboot, Windows should detect and install the card, or ask you to supply the driver. Once installed, Google Chrome should work.
