Regarding the swimming, it's best that you start going to a swimming pool. No, not any swimming pool. Pools that are there so people swim, olimpic size pools. Ask the people in charge there to help you out a bit (Lifeguard for example). During the summertime, if you live near the sea, start swimming in the sea. It's more challenging. Beware though of strong currents, and read up on it.
Tip: If you ever get caught on a current that's pulling you into the sea, do not try to swim against it. Swim sideways till you're out of the current. Currents are very strong... I like to swim to the boy, which is around 200-250 metres away. It took me over 30 minutes to get there, but around 10 getting back. Luckily the current wasn't pulling me out! Just so you see the difference.
If you're really wanting to train for the SEAL's, I'm guessing you'll have to be in top shape. I wouldn't just train at home, I would go to a gym and talk to one of the trainers there, tell him about what you want to do and he'll help you out with excercises.
