Dubstep is a good genre, but where I live no one knows what dubstep actually is. They try and fail. Bumping Skrillex all day. It is truely annoying.
But the reason I love Odd Future is there is a meaning behind every lyric. and Timeless by Mike G is the perfect example. You really have to break down the lyrics to understand it and respect it. Tyler the Creators part of the song is so deep it is unreal.
I'm sitting on this couch, wrist bloody
(He is thinking about committing suicide)
The therapist nicknamed me Kid Cudi,
(If you dont know who Kid Cudi is he is also a depression type rapper. Also a play on words kid cutty. Get it hehe.
I killed my fifth buddy
(This song came out whenever Earl was in Samoa and told everyone that he died)
The fourth one, I like to kick around
Ride him all around, when he hits the ground
(He is talking about his skateboard in this part of the song because he skates quite often)
The third one is mixed, white and black
Minor, flat, major, act like a pitch with a flanger
(He is talking about his piano and a flanger is needed to create the harmony for mixing beats in a song)
The second one's a stranger, but I knew her all my life
Since I was born, the other half said fuck it like I was porn
(This is his mother and father. His father was not there for the family not caring for him and his mother.)
And the last one, he's in the mirror
(He is talking about himself)
With a gun, wish I could see him clearer
But I can't cause my eyes are red, now he's dead
(He sees himself in the mirror with a gun but cannot see himself that well because his eyes are red due to drugs. Then he commits suicide.)
I may be wrong about some of the lyrics but that is what I got from them. His music is deep and very well thought out. He isnt some stupid rapper he is actually quite smart but doesnt get credit because he is not a good guy in the publics eyes.
And yes I listen to music way to much
