I think you're underestimating how extremely rare dragonfruit are.

Dude, Ive harvested 700 plants, which isnt that much, but still I only got 1 dragon fruit seed and got 2 dragon fruits out of it. That is 2/700 or 1/350 (0.28%). So yes good luck buying thousand of these. However, how much would you pay for one (Its 10K if you sell it to the trader)?

So, roughly 0.11% of dragonfruit seeds per 1,785 crops so far.
