The vast majority of modern chat clients or client plugins currently support logging conversations to file somewhere for reference at a later time.
But yet, Steam lacks this feature for unknown reasons. And it is very handy to save important steam conversations automatically.
A chatlogger sounds abit 1337'ish but the only thing it does is saving your chats, which is completely legal.
