Ping Problems

My PC is powerful and I have super fast internet but my ping sometimes rockets to over 1000. It's usually above 40.

Its obviously something on your end as I haven't seen anyone else with this problem.

Is it only gmod that is affected?

Also, How many other people do you have on your Network at peak times

Is it possible you can enter the following convars into your developer console:

• net_graph 5
  
• net_graphshowlatency 1
  

Then, record the output (found on the bottom right of your screen) while on the server and post it here?

That happens to me sometimes too, close all tabs before joining the game. Make sure no one else is looking to internet if you have a bad connection.

Aere you using a usb WiFi reciver by any chance? I used to experience something similar but nowhere near as frequently. I discovered that replacing the usb WiFi reciver with an Ethernet cat 5e cable made a world of diffrent for me.

If you use a USB WiFi thing, either get an internal card or Ethernet.
This could be from the strain on the router by how many people are on it, I have that problem and there is nothing you can do about it.
Or it could be the server just been strange er usual
