The best thing is to adjust. I can't play ArmA 2 properly to and I have over 150+ hours on it. The basic FPS controls are there, but the game is designed as a Military Simulator and not any normal game.
But the big question is: What control do you find particularly hard to master.

You should not look at it as a FPS, but as a simulator. Once you know the controls well, which takes practice, then it's not hard at all. On foot controls are all the WASD and the normal FPS controls really.

Take you're time to look at the control options, and maybe remap how its comfortable for you.
Also do all the training missions. They really help
