New rules regarding jobs
#71
Sentence #1, Rule #1: No mistake
Sentence #2: Rule #1: Does not make sense- correction: Vous ne pouvez pas jouer un rôle différent de celui qui est mentionné dans le titre de votre métier, et vous ne pouvez pas modifier ce nom simplement pour contourner ou éviter de jouer un rôle.

Best regards,

- "," between "spelen" and "aangeven" is necessary
- "-" in the "roleplaysituaties" contraction is not necessary (e.g. "humanresourcesmanagement" is a correct contraction in Dutch)

#2: fine

Since we are picking on grammar:

Quote:#1: "Zelfverzonnen baantitels moeten het karakter dat je van plan bent om te spelen, aangeven. Je mag geen ander karakter spelen dan dat je baantitel aangeeft. Ook mag je je baantitel niet veranderen om roleplaysituaties te vermijden."

The , between Spelen and aangeven doesnt make any sense. Just remove it and the sentence is fine.

No. Please. The comma is needed. Check your Groene Boekje. It is a beperkende bijvoeglijke bijzin.

That and why is it baantitels now? That doesn't make sense "job title"

"Custom job titles must accurately state what character you intend to roleplay. You may not roleplay a different character to that stated by your job title, and you may not change job title whenever you wish to circumvent this and avoid roleplay."

Job = Baan/beroep
Title = Title
Job Title = Baan/beroep titel

baantitel is barely/never used in dutch. Mostly beroep/baan so beroep is more understandable and leaving "titel" away is even better because it just looks weird

"Zelfverzonnen beroepen moeten het karakter dat je van plan bent om te spelen (removed ',') aangeven. Je mag geen ander karakter spelen dan dat je beroep (title) aangeeft. Ook mag je je beroep niet veranderen om roleplaysituaties te vermijden."

EDIT: Also sorry for being late about this but "verborgen/classified" makes no sense either classified = secret right? verborgen = hidden

So if it is secret it should be "geheim"

I think you should change the thread title to: Translation 101, no mistake will go without a fix.

"beroep titel" is incorrect, it must be "beroepstitel". OK, I don't care if you want to leave out the title part. But jobs are something that can be chosen out of a list, which is different.
The "," is compulsory. Check my previous post. If you still don't believe me, ask your Dutch teacher (implying that you have one since you don't apprehend the rules of the Groene Boekje).
Change it if you want, I don't care whether you follow the Dutch rules. However, it's not neat.
