The whole multi coloured poppy was picked up by some shobby news sites and social media which made it seem like a much larger issue - they were being sold on ebay to my knowledge and it's not something ANYBODY asked for. I personally am in support of the poppy, but most years I unfortunately forget to wear them - I don't see it as a MUST for remembrance day but respect those that do wear them. I always participate in the moment of silence (however most of the time it happens I'm either not doing anything or asleep). I know for instance in Northern Ireland wearing a poppy can be seen as a political statement so I don't blame a lot of people for refusing to wear one, especially due to other tensions outside of their control.
