You can test them, you don't need to use them for RP to test them though do you. It's literally just an excuse to use them before they are released to normal players.

Considering they're from the workshop, you should already know exactly what they do, you're just trying to figure out it they are compatible with the gamemode, work out the speed values, and whether or not they can handle the player count without lagging - none of this needs to be done with RP.
