Norton slows my PC a tad, but its overall protection is superb.

On a side note, IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA to have two active Anti-Virus programs installed -- they will wipe each other out. (Kaspersky v. Norton)

1. It gets the job done, no fuss no catch.
2. It doesnt annoy you about it.
3. It makes you feel safe when a virus is detected it just rapes it like instantly, like nuking it!

Latest DoS attack was by an member of Fearless, which probably got exploited/hacked in some way, because he didn't have any firewall. He thought he was protected by the standard Windows Firewall. He became a so called zombie of an hacker, a computer used for attacking servers without the owner noticing it. If you don't believe it, he had a virus called Hack.tool.Oylecann.exe, which is according to microsoft.com: "HackTool:Win32/Oylecann.A is a tool that may be used to send a flood of network packets, like TCP, UDP and HTTP, to a designated target." Please protect your PC for your own security and for the server.


Step 1: Protecting your PC is easy and even free nowadays. Start with installing one of these firewalls, this could be:

- Microsoft Security Essentials (You need a legit Windows XP, Vista or 7 OS)

Step 2: I also recommend to do a full scan with my favorite scanner called Malwarebytes. Here you can download it: http://www.malwarebytes.org
It finds malware others firewalls won't find.

I think you're a bit confused with some of the things you have said :p From what it sounds like he downloaded a Trojan/Rat, something which made him part of a botnet (making his computer a 'zombie' ).

Firewalls won't stop viruses or malware, for that you need antivirus and anti-malware :p

Firewalls aren't REALLY needed on home computers, theyre just there too permit or deny network transmissions depending on rules set up by the user.

You don't even need an anti virus.. Just don't download stuff from untrusted sources & don't allow Java on dodgy sites.

OH GOD DAMMIT!!!
I just scanned my system because I thought "Maybe I have that cause I got banned for ddosing which I did'nt do" scanned I have the bloody virus. How do I get rid of it???

Downloading something besides Internet Explorer helps too. Ever since I've gotten Chrome, I haven't had any viruses; and I don't click on shit.

I had a huge ass virus on my computer some minutes ago.
The moment I started my computer google chrome process started itself about 2000 times. O_O
I got into safemode and did a scan, everything's fine now again. Luckily

Same here! Tab's were spamming with "www.thelivegenerator.com"
and I had a process called : 61530.exe or something :/
I turned off my pc, got onto my old 1 and were searching the virus.
No luck for me, didn't find it, restarted my pc QUICKLY Installed Avast
And now I dont have a problem anymore, let's see if I will STAY safe
