Whether or not you got RDM'd does not excuse breaking NLR either way, you may only do so with an admins approval which you did not have.

As I previously said you may only break NLR upon approval of an administrator.
I'm sorry but I'm here to enforce the rules, and you broke a basic one and got the appropriate punishment, you're no different from anyone else.
