What sort of errors, do you get. Is it pink and black everywhere?

You probably need HL2 EP2 content which you can find under the download section, and/or CSS content.
Try HL2 EP2 first. Cause every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals, who he really is.

Then yeah, downloading the half life content will fix the errors, don't forget to also have counter strike source installed because this also fixes the pink and black.
