Involved, neutral witness and can shed some light on the situation.
First of all i will explain how i can provide an important testimony with a reason why i consider myself involved.

I am a forum moderator for a company that used to run MyBB as its forums. Its switched now but i have plenty of experience with MyBB. On request i will post the forum where i moderate.

Depending on how soul configured it people with a lower rank as the OP cant edit threads/posts. For example a moderator can edit posts of users/other moderators but not admin posts due to the higher rank. The same goes for Nighthawk here, when he attempted to edit Souls thread (for whatever reason) he probably got blocked by the system and received an error message stating that he has insufficient rights to edit this thread (as owner outranks an administrator). The curious thing is that it still shows that Nighthawk edited the thread but this doesnt surprise me. That "last changed" message pops up as soon as that "insufficient rights error message" shows to an attempted edit. So even though he only attempted to edit it, it still shows as he edited it even when he didnt necessarily do that.

Also, it even states he edited the post which would only show if he had actually edited it.

So this statement isnt necessarily 100% true, keep that in mind.

I am pretty sure that administrators cant easily edit owners posts (permission has to be given every time), but soul will have to confirm that himself.
