Removing it wod just show the ugly painting behind it (load the map in singleplayer and you get what i mean (FL just made another painting to cover it))
however.... why not update it to a Big N or Nexus on a black surface. this would make it more recognizable for new players and looks quite impressing itself  obvious +support
