Python is about as useful as a baby aka it does nothing

I wrote an entire API for a serial receipt printer in python....

you're a SEr aren't you

python is lightweight and basically useless unless you are learning languages, its more of a show off look what i can make than actually being known
Python. It's lightweight, and blazingly fast. It's good for developing in, due to that. It has a gui library inbuilt, and is useful if you know what you're doing. It's not just for "learning languages".

Now. Onto Java.

Whilst not being used in households as much now, Java still has a lot of use in industry and backend. Just because you cannot see it being used, doesn't mean it isn't. A lot of company specific software and industrial control software is written in Java.

When you say Minecraft is being ported to C, you mean this news? That's not minecraft being ported to C, that's a sub-par, isometric game, in the style of minecraft, by a different company, being made in C.

If it was being ported to C, why would it come packaged with its own version of Java? It makes little sense to me, and seems as if you've scim-read articles to try and get some "zings". All I can say is [Image: badzing.gif]

pls no insult python again. python is my bae.

I'm a SER? - What is a SER?

Yep, Java is used many places. It is even in your SIM card. But, personally I would refrain from it due to its slowness. If you are making big projects, then simply go to C++. It can achieve the same task, but better. The only reason to use Java in my opinion, is because of its multi-OS support.

My favourite languages are Lua and Python as they're lightweight yet fairly effective languages.

Python used by Google(Other languages are used, but Python is one of the main ones I believe). Google is a multi-billion dollar company.

It's not useless.

You may think HTML is weird because it is NOT a programming language, but rather a markup language.
See here for a nice explanation: http://stackoverflow.com/a/145179.

C# for desktop applications and to some extent client-server applications.
Java for cross-platform extremity.
HTML, CSS, JS & PHP for app and web development.

Me and My friends in school won a competition to make a Unique Sports Game. As a reward we won a raspberry pi and we are now learning to code with Python its really interested
