How to use Buttons as Prop.
#1
Did you always wonder how normal players could go beyond theire "Prop Limit" without beeing a Member of the Staff?
Well, today I'll teach you how you can do that.
The Answer is Simple. Buttons.
"Buttons?" you might ask now, but yes, Buttons.
GMod allowes you to change the model of a Button and this Tutorial will teach you how you can change the button models and how you can use them like normal Props.

Step 1:
Activate your Console.

Spoiler :
You want to start your Game and go to the Options.
You want to go to the "Keyboard" settings.
After that you have to scroll down until you see the Setting called "Toggle Console"
Change the bind to a button you want like shown:

Step 2:
Getting a Model you want.

Spoiler :
Go to your menu (Where you can spawn Props (Default : Q)) and search a Prop you want to place as a Button.
Right click on the Prop and select "Copy to Clipboard"

Step 3:
Making the button.

Spoiler :
Close the Q menu again and press the Hotkey you used for your Console.
Type in following command: button_model
When you've done that Press Crtl+V.
You'll notice that the Prop path (where the Prop is saved) got pasted into the Console.
It should look like that:

Press Enter and go back to your game.

Step 4:
Placing the Button and using it.

Spoiler :
Now that you got your Button model replaced, use the Button tool and place the Button where you want it to be.
The Button with the replaced model will now be ghosted.

You will not be able to move the prop in that state as you can see in the following picture:

To change that follow step 5.

Step 5:
Moving the Button

Spoiler :
To be able to move the Button, select the "remover" tool, look at the Button you want to move, and press "R".
This will remove ALL welds from the Button (works for normal Props aswell)
When done that, you'll be able to move the Button, just like a normal Prop.

You'll also be able to use the Weld tool, and other tools just like on normal Props.

More Informations:

Spoiler :
You might notice that the grid that is on normal Props:

You'll not have that Grid on the Button you made.

You can also Use Those Buttons as a Door.
Just assign a button (Lets say P) in the Button Tool, to your Button.
Now place the Button and select the Fading door Tool, and bind the Sading door to the button you assigned the button tool to.
Now left click at the Button you made with the Fading door Tool.
Every time you will press E on this Prop it'll dissapear and you can walk through.
Make sure the "Toggle" Option on the Button tool is NOT ticked!

You'll now be able to use 15+ more "props" to your Builds!

I could also make Videos to explain it better, just tell me if I should do it or not.
And tell me if I helped or not!

*by Questions, ask me!
