I need help with my budgie…

Question
I have had buddy (my budgie) for about 3 years now. He is 3 years old. About a month ago, he began to pluck out his feathers. At first I thought he was over-moulting. But he wasn't. It wasn't a parasite, either. I thought it might be loneliness, so I put a mirror in his cage and talk to him alot. But that did not stop it. Then, I suspected hormones. So I bought some medicine and put it in his water. That didn't work. I have been to the vets. If anybody knows what it might be or how to fix it, then a bit of advice would be nice. Thank you. Attachment below. Thanks again,

Oh damn, sorry to hear that! What did your vets say?

I'm sorry to hear that!

I think you should go back the veterinary practice or visit another.

If you are going to look online for solutions please only check reliable websites; don't take any advice from Yahoo Answers.

Well, they gave us a medicine called spot-on for birds. It worked. For about a week.

If the spot-on worked it was likely mites or another parasite, but it didn't clear it up completely. Like everyone else said you should return to the vet and see what they recommend.

This should really be asked on a site that's more relevant to pets. Seems like a pretty specific issue to get advice for on the FL forums, I'm not saying you won't get an answer here but there's more chance of getting help from a place that's specialized in pets.

Examples:

http://www.petforums.co.uk/bird-health-nutrition/

http://www.reddit.com/r/budgies/

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskVet/

etc.

Send that thing to the vets.

Or you could try what I did to my chicken when the other ones were biting it...
This may sound cruel but it worked. Where the chickens would bit, I'd put the special type of tar over the wound. When the chickens would try and peck again, the chicken had some makeshift armour... After a year or so (when the chicken was fully grown), All the tar had gone and the chicken was no longer pecked because it could defend itself.

I guess if you're willing to try this you could give it a go... It would protect it until it's broken the habit...
