Suggestion - Allow Police to use M4
Everyone seems to be forgetting the semi serious part of FL name.
Whilst we would like to see more diversified roleplay, there are a myriad of factors to consider, such as the ease of playability in FL, and discouraging aggressive roleplay.
Whilst there are exceptions to the rule, if both parties are armed similarly then it will create a FL variety of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). The police can number in total 10 officers, it's not that often they encounter more than 6 people armed with rifles in any instance. If all officers carry mp5s, we have 6 mp5s and 3 UMPs with 1 m4.
That is more than enough firepower for any situation in the game.

We must also consider the cops who can be considered in all politeness to be mentally deficient, as intelligent as a box of crayons, and as trigger happy as a US Postal worker. If we give them m4's or access to them we can expect even more traffic stops to occur. If bullets counts as traffic stops.
It'll make the entire server worse, and increase aggressive roleplay, rage in general, arguments over this stuff, cops have shotguns and mp5s, it's appropriate and more than enough.

Still seems insane to not level the playing field, or at least make it less cliff like

Here's a suggestion...
Why not just try and avoid using guns?
Solve things peacefully

Haha, are you actually being serious?

Giving them a M4A1 is like giving them a nuke. Plus, there would be no point for SRU.

The majority of police cases on FL, like 90% of them are not solvable via peacefull negotiations and require the use of firearms, or at the very least the visible wielding of them. Evocity does not have the luxuary of being in a nation where the police do not need to be well equiped like many in Europe, its in a position where even its street officers need in the most extreme cases access to better equipment.

The minority that are: Hostage situations, robberys "If caught", speed violations, checkpoints, light assault, permit violations and a few others.

The majority of cases they receive are along the lines of: Shots fired, murder, multiple murders, assault on nexus, assault on compound, break and enter resulting in murder, arson, wielding a deadly weapon with the intent to murder, the list goes on.

The most effective way these majority cases are ever brought to a peacefull resolution is the outsourceing of the work to private security groups to make use of equipment they dont have access to, the most usefull being the Tranq rifle, and the element of surprise.

Though to add on to my above point: "street officers need in the most extreme cases access to better equipment."

If people are THAT concerned about Stormtrooper police waltzing around with M4s all the time when they are in no way needed in the situation, why not a rule or guide regulateing this equipment for the standard street officers, because like it or not, theres a time where everyone in a situation is going to need that equipment.

Look at any US Public shooting of any kind, a huge chunk of responding officers are wielding high caliber weapons, not to be on the front lines, but as a buffer to keep the area cordoned off from civilians and a last line of defence if somehow everything goes tits up
"See the North Hollywood shootout incident, the event that lead to all US police agencys eventualy having this kind of weaponry standardized in the event of a high risk situation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout"

A bit of a dramatisation of the North Hollywood shootout that more or less shows how most FL shootouts go regarding the police during a standoff, and how they usualy start.

These combat situations are where they actualy are in need of better equipment
