Windows 8
#1
I'm using Windows 8 now, and it's better than I expected. For 30 euro I ordered it via microsoft.com, downloaded it in 40 minutes and burnt it on a DVD. (or you can use an USB)

It's basically a fancy Windows 7 in my opinion, I expected it to be really tablet kinda looking, but that's only the start menu, the desktop is very similar to Windows 7.

All drivers worked out of the box, and so far all applications work just fine though.

Hopefully I'm still satisfied after a week or two. Smile

Apps do work faster
You need about a week or so to get used to its new features including its very new startup menu
Really annoying the fact that it opens apps for PDF or Images for like 20 seconds
And unfortunately I seem to be by far not the only person who has problems playing/launching source games online (on laptops, namely)
Its also cool looking
But it rather has more disadvantages when it comes to video games platform compatibility
Other than that its just like you said "fancy"

Sounds like a solution, as long as I can still play Fearless.

It's already apparent, however, that Windows 8 has serious compatibility issues. It comes with IPV6 but the later versions of Windows 7 did so too. To be honest, the only genuine, progressive, non-display-related benefit I can attribute to Windows 8 is that it's got a new and strongly improved task manager. Other than that, I don't see a lot of positive alteration, but quite a lot of negative points. To people who ask me, I don't recommend it.

Of course, if you're satisfied with it, all the better for you. To me, it's still merely a glorified sliding puzzle.

I will let you know how Gmod runs on it later when I installed my games.

Wasn't there a big fuse between Steam and Windows 8 ?

I'm tempted to get it if I also buy this coming out soon.

Homescreen of Windows 8 looks very touch friendly, I imagine this device will give a similar experience to controlling it.
