People can write anything they want in a Goodbye thread, It's personal. If they think it is too time wasting it's probably true, in their eyes.
Not to mention, it is a Goodbye thread. If they really want to stop playing, they have any reason to state for it, the thread is just to announce and make it official for players.
Don't you think they already thought of this, before they actually posted their Goodbye thread? Most is heavily considering and asking themselfs why they are leaving.
