Some of the more organized guys like Lulzsec were decent at what they did, but they shit their pants when they started to get arrested.

Anonymous was alright before the Scientology raids a few years back, now they're just preteen fagolas from /b/ who act hardcore over the internet, when the worst they can actually do to you is get your address and ring pizza to your house.

I think they are doing all good. I know loads. in dec 2010 a friend of my Jeroenz0r d-dosed mastercard visa en Om.nl that is the website of ower goverment hes 16 years old.. he did this for good reasons so is anonymous

Scared off SOPA by shutting down most of the government websites?

That's one reason that I respect Anon. Plus, they helped raise awareness for ACTA and such, too.

Oh no! The government was attacked for what... 5, 6 minutes... And what did it end with? Arrests here, arrests there. Nothing law enforcement cant handle. And even worse, wanting to shut down the internet by attacking 13 dns servers(if thats what they're called). What a joke. They are a nuisance to society, and all they can ever accomplish is attacking happy people with actual lives. They need to grow up and realize they arent doing anything good for society. Get a life

Still, they saved us from SOPA, without them, we could be not writing to each other right now at this minute.

I honestly think the Politics section should be removed just based on the average user age. A lot of you don't even look into what you talk about it, just say what you hear. I bet a lot of you still think Orgin steals pictures from your computer. Just something I've been thinking. But honestly who cares about those internet hackers, nothing is achieved by hacking a game development/publisher studio.

Truly, if he was part of Anonymous, he would never tell you he was.

So trying to stop Child Porn was a retarded deed?
Just like raising awareness of SOPA, ACTA, and PIPA are bad deeds?
Attempting to prevent the downloads of Anony-OS, which was claimed to be filled with trojans a bad deed?

Clearly a bunch of retards thought to defend on all these topics, clearly not trying to protect the interest of several corporations that perform business online or even the thought that with the passing of SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA, their is a clear line where copyright infringements have overstepped there bounds.

Their activist, that has been there main purpose and they tend to be extremely effective at it. Even as it is now, it has decent skill levels and even skiddies.

@UTLonghorn
They shut down several sites for more than just a few minutes, some of it even amounted to a couple of hours. Shows a clear flaw in the U.S. Cyber-Defense sector. Anyhow, you stand with copyright organizations stepping upon the law-bound freedoms of the People?
I live in the U.S., and can personally say, we are overstepping our parameters. Plain and Simple, our government tends to bend the truth and try to force it's way into affairs.
Regarding the DNS servers,
Just because it happened doesn't mean they were involved, there is plenty of freelance hack groups such as Lulzsec and several others that may have been responsible for this. Basically all this did was like a proxy effect. You connected to your DNS server, being infected, you were then redirected to another DNS server. As was said, it was a select number of IP's, NOT the whole internet that was to be shut down.

The overall response to this thread are misguided and even rude. Overall looking at their "attacks" or movements, there was motivation backed behind it, not just a blind "attack" as many are claiming.
