Except that there is no real currency being spent
It promotes gambling from a young age. Users can spend legal tender currency to buy money packs (credit) in order to gamble illegally if they are under 18/21 depending on jurisdiction and fearless does not operate as a betting house, but as a charity.

It isn't illegal at all as there is no functionality in place for people to exchange their ingame money for real money (and this is also against ToS which is enforced). This is the same argument most games with loot box functionality also use and in most countries it works (and it's also why Valve couldn't really mount a proper defence).
Is it unethical? Yes.
Is it Illegal? No.

I don't really get the sudden hate on casinos either, it feels like it's more being used as a scapegoat.

Note: I am not a lawyer, so I could be wrong.
