Performing Citizen Role Effectively - Experienced Roleplaying.

This guide outlines all that you should know on how to act when performing the role 'Citizen'

Overview:
This is your default spawn job; by this, meaning this is the state you will be in upon joining the server.  At this stage, it is your job to make sure you act like a general citizen of EvoCity. That means your rank is neutral and you have no power over anyone else but yourself.
As citizen, you also have the freedom to set a custom job.  This might be a company that you would like to begin such as ‘British Threads – Manager’ and ‘British Threads – Employee’ – These are examples of a retail job where you sell clothing and this can be customized how you prefer.

How to effectively perform the role as Citizen:
These are stages that you should follow when beginning your role as a citizen – these should be done upon spawning into the server:
·         Setting up your personality
·         Selecting your appearance to best suit your personality (Vice Versa)
·         Beginning your everyday chores are citizen

[Image: social-psychology.jpg]Personality -
To effectively perform the role as a citizen, your actions and your personality must reference from your in-game description.  This shows a good ability to act out certain emotions and shows you are able to define different stages of emotion the mind goes through in different situations.
I.e. if your description states you are depressed - you should act distantly, avoid people and show a lack of confidence.  Try to isolate yourself a little more from people – It’s the little details that make the difference.
Your actions should STRONGLY reference from your players mental state and personality, which is key to performing the citizen role effectively.

Once you have your personality correctly tuned, you are then ready to work on physical appearances.  This will show vaguely your class; For example – If you are a high class citizen, you are likely to dress smartly and drive around in formal expensive cars.  This itself will also reflect on the characters personality as they are likely to be selfish, stubborn and big headed.  On the other hand, if you are a low class citizen, you are likely to drive around in low-key vehicles and wear your everyday joggers and t-shirt.  This also will reflect on their personalities as this may give them a more kind and down-to-earth character set making them more friendly.

Now that you have you personality and physical features carefully selected, it is down to you to begin your everyday chores:
     1.       Find a house that reflects your class; if you are a low class citizen, buy an apartment – If you’re a High class citizen, go for a more peaceful location such as a villa near the lake.
     2.       Perform daily chores, this goes for any class. This could simply be doing the dishes, Sleep at night, go to the toilet, go shopping, go out and chat with friends the list is endless.  Once you get a taste of what is expected as a citizen, ideas will come flooding to mind.

What TO do –                                                                                                                                       [Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSlwhNDfoYWoHBJhwbJW45...5cE6V-jwWg]
·         Attend lots of a passive roleplays, I.E. go for a coffee with friends, go for a meal with your partner or whatever extra roleplays are to choose from.
·         Remain within a passive manner at all times – NO killing.
·         When roleplaying anywhere, add as much detail and give yourself plenty of opportunity to add /me, I.E. Go to the ATM and play the role off withdrawing some money from it, them walk into the shop with cash in hand.  Don’t go into a shop and buy something that costs $1,000 and for it to magically be in your wallet- that is unrealistic - go to an ATM.
·         Look for jobs – lots of citizens these days are walking around unemployed, work part time in shops and still focus on you role as a citizen.
·         Show progression throughout your life as that citizen, if you have had a pay rise? Buy a new house and decorate it with nice looking things.
·    Refer back to things that has happened in your past that may influence the situation you’re in.

What NOT to do -                                                                                                                               [Image: cross.png]
·         Citizens do not possess weapons – Try to keep weapon usage to a minimum when playing citizen if anything, don’t use them at all
·         Do not kill people at all – If put into the situation of being under gun point, do not retaliate and pull a weapon, just coward and follow their orders.
·         Do not possess contraband in your homes; this is for underground jobs only.
·         Do not grow weed, you may only possess it.

Rules that are highlighted Strongly when playing Citizen:
  1. Follow FearRP. You can't attack a person who has a gun (or tazer) pointed at you, while you are unarmed, you must roleplay being afraid of the gun.
When put into this situation, is it best to coward, don’t try to be the hero and save the day, this is not what citizens do. If you have been put under gun point, follow his orders and once he leaves you alone, call the police using /Request – Being as informative as possible.
  1. Do not Metagame, that means don't talk in OOC ( Out Of Character) while in IC (In Character).
When interacting with other players, remember unless you have met them before in your present life, you know NOTHING about them, so don’t up to them and shout “Hey Ted! Let’s raid the president!” If you have never spoken to them before; this is known as Metagaming and boarder line FailRP.
  1. Don't kill people randomly (RDM), only kill with a RP reason.
As citizen, it is best to not kill anyone at all, unless there is some strong evidence that can support your roleplay that can be used a reference. Your everyday citizen does not kill people without a strongly supported reason.
  1. Do not run people over at purpose and always try to brake or avoid the person.
As is citizen you will fear the idea of causing harm to other also fearing getting caught by the police, therefore when in the situation you will do all possible to avoid running people over.  If you do happen to run them over, you should stop, call the paramedics and attempt to help the victim and shout for help. Do NOT drive away.
  1. You must roleplay your job, for example when you are chef, don't go around raiding.
Although ‘Citizen’ isn't a job, it is a representation of the role of a normal human being with a normal life and your main objective is to concentrate on staying alive.

How to act in situations as role ‘Citizen’:

Scenario: Shootout at Nexus:
A Shootout anywhere would spread fear to anyone close by and anyone there that is not holding a weapon, should not be there at all. (Apart from hostages)
Realistic ways to act: Keep well away from the scene, if you are close by do not hesitate to run away if you feel endangered
Unrealistic ways to act: Running to the shoot out and interfering, running through gun shots, pulling a gun and joining in is VERY unrealistic and is not how a citizen would act in them situations.

Scenario: Walking into a shop
A shop is a passive roleplay, designed for people to browse and by things from, this should happen easily and without fuss.
Realistic ways to act: Peacefully browse through the items and interact with the the surrounding player base. If you cannot find what you are looking for, walk up the a shop employee and ask for assistance.
Unrealistic ways to act: Running into a shop, screaming things such as “FUCK YOU ALL, AAAAAH”, jumping on peoples heads and having no intention to roleplay, but to troll the roleplay is not acceptable.

Scenario: Argument in the street.
This is where your personality comes into play.  If you happened to pulled into an argument it is the way you choose to respond that will affect the out, This should be done verbally with no weapons involved
Realistic ways to act: If you are passing by, you should carry on walking, do not involve yourself in an argument with people you don’t really know, tensions should be high and it’s a situation many do not like to get involved in.  If you are part of the argument, use your players personality and put it into play – If you are cocky, try to act smug and above the person your are arguing with.  If you don’t happen to be confident, try to coward away from the argument and agree with everything the person is saying and remove yourself or even cry.
Unrealistic ways to act: An argument breaks out between you and someone else, and you happen to be in the wrong and you feel silly, you pull out a weapon and kill him for no reason.  Do NOT escalate such minor situations to extreme circumstances. AKA do not kill someone because you lost an argument.

Scenario: Being placed under gun point.
This is the situation where an aggressive player base such as a rebel is putting you under gun point and demanding something from you.
Realistic ways to act: Act scared, use /me to prove that you are terrified, stay perfectly still unless told to do anything else, you should be so scared that your legs become numb and you don’t have the time to plan a counter attack.  Do everything you are demanded without question, do not back answer, don’t even talk, do as he says and once he leaves you, call the police using /Request.
Unrealistic ways to act: Do not scream “THIS IS RANDOM, IM CALLING ADMIN”, ignore everything he says and find ways to slip out of situation and run away from gun point.
