The new combat system is garbage. Since it was first introduced in Origins, I absolutely despise it and retuned Origins back when it was released. Tried Odyssey during a free trial and it wasn't my kind of AC. I dont expect any miracles for the new AC.
Black Flag, AC III and Unity were my favourites because of their amazing combat feeling and general athmosphere like the carribean in Black Flag.
