Gmod doesn't support directx 11, anything higher than 9.0c defaults to 9.0c even though it might state that the game is running in directx 11 mode.

What's your system specs? I have had the same problem before.
After a while the problem might disappear.

If it crashes upon the downloading of FL files, it may be clashing with other addons.
I recommend you unsubscribe to all other addons and delete them. Try joining with a clean slate.
In the meantime I will attempt to find other solutions to this problem in case such a solution does not work.
