John's Gun Store

A new gun store has opened it's doors in EvoCity. Located at Big General Store, and ran by a man named "John". When quizzed on why he had chosen to open up a gun store, he said "I came to the city and I looked around, and there was sort of a gap in the market when it came to weapons". He stated that thanks to the easy gun laws in EvoCity where citizens can easily obtain a gun permit, acquire weaponry and ammunition, and even try their aim in gun ranges, that it was easy to fill the void in the surprisingly empty gun dealer trade.

According to John, business is good. He went on to state "You get your time when it goes quiet, but generally there's enough to keep yourself breathing above the water". Despite Coronavirus restrictions easing lately, the pandemic and its effects have caused some damage to John's gun shop as "you can only have a certain number of people within the store at once". In fact, it's such a prominent issue that John has placed a sign on his shop doors asking customers to "Please stay two metres apart at all times". Furthermore, any weapons that are purchased are cleaned in disinfectant by John before they are handed over, which "really slows down the rate of business I can do" but that overall, "it's not too bad".

In the near future, John hopes to acquire a security guard and "maybe even a little helper of some sort", but for now it's just him and his little shack inside Big General Store.

MTL Autonomous Zone

Spoiler :

On the evening of the 15 June 2020, several rebels in the EvoCity area took over and declared that the MTL area was now an autonomous zone, one without the ECPD. This cause of this event has been pinned on the EvoCity Police Department and several causes of abuse of power and overly violent policing, alongside the militarisation of the police in EvoCity. EBC News managed to secure a brief interview with the rebel leader, Vimto Evergreen. Here's what he said:

When asked why an autonomous zone was set up at MTL, Evergreen replied "We've been constantly harassed by the police for the past 5 months, and we've decided to take matters into our own hands by denying police access to our facility". The breaking point for this course of action was when "an SRU officer came in here [MTL] and said we were all heavily armed, causing me to have a search warrant in my name, even though I didn't have any weapons on me at the time", Evergreen went on to say.

Evergreen and his rebel crew plan to "isolate ourselves and make a better society without police intruding in our business". When asked if this action was inspired by Chaz in Seattle, Washington state, Vimto Evergreen agreed that it was heavily inspired by the events of Chaz, another autonomous zone caused by police militarisation and abuse.

The ECPD and SRU have both declined to make any comments regarding the situation, despite having blocked off the entire Industrial region to the public for the time being. However, the President of EvoCity issued a statement which stated "These rebels have killed many officers on our police force. We will strike back soon".

The battle continues.

The Very Best of EvoCity

On 14 June 2020, a festival of sorts was held in EvoCity where many businesses simultaneously opened up their doors and began business. From the snazzy monorail to the bright billboards and to the busy streets, EvoCity was packed full of life, so let's look a little closer into what was going on that magical night.

In the skyline of the city that night, one dominant icon was rolling through the clouds was the highly successful Estleback Monorail (V6). The monorail made it's triumphant return to large crowds who were eager to experience an easier and less stressful form of travelling. According to Estleback, "a new and more robust movement system" was implemented for the new monorail "that ensured a consistently moving ride". Three stops were available at Estleback Headquarters (near the city tunnel), Backstreet, and Top Street. Overall, Estleback showed that it has retained its innovative and elaborate construction skills in its latest form, one that balances both open and easy travel with safety and security.

Descending from the sky, and moving towards the Bank of America; a therapy was set up by a local man known simply as "Kevin". At "Kevin's Therapy", for a fee you could either receive therapy or a story from his seemingly bizarre life. From one of his many tales, he recounted how his father liked white cars better than black cars. Just across the street from this, a limo/valet service was available with highly trained and professional drivers to escort the citizens in style.

On Top Street there was an interesting twist as the first Apple store in the region opened, however those who were looking to buy the latest iPhone or iPad were quickly disappointed as it was literally an apple store, it just so happened to have the layout interior of a certain tech company named after a fruit.

There were many other businesses and events going on throughout EvoCity that night, including Club Dingo, an extravagant nightclub with the best tunes, and Prestige Motors, who offered only the best cars, and also a bus that ran throughout the city too. However if one thing is for certain, it's that EvoCity certainly is a hub for a diverse set of business ideas.
