Operation Altoria - Venturing Further

A week ago, EBC News had the honour of interviewing what could be a prominent figure in the development of a new space age for mankind. With NASA and SpaceX dominating the news about returning to the stars, EvoCity has churned out its own version: Operation Altoria.

But before they do something revolutionary, who exactly are Operation Altoria? According to Supreme Commander Felix Stuart, the organisation has "been in the making for many generations" but that it was only "now did they make it public". Altoria in EvoCity is a mere branch of the bigger organisation. Despite being relatively new to EvoCity, the operation has plans to take EvoCity and her citizens into space, he added "it is new to most people but we wish to bring the people with us".

What about the man in charge? The Supreme Commander? Felix Stuart's job involves him overseeing the construction of rockets, shuttles, and even launch districts. His role will expand once Altoria's space station is in operation. As of now, the first launch district is under construction, it will comprise of outer walls, multiple chambers inside for engineering, sleeping, and dining, and "even a simulation" according to Supreme Commander Stuart himself. He went on to say "our small simulation gives the cadets a feeling of teamwork, but we have to go bigger". By the end of our interview, Supreme Commander Felix Stuart remarked "Operation Altoria welcomes all who wish to visit space and venture further".

With plans to test a rocket with success, launch a pilot into space and back, and test a lazer weapon with success, it certainly seems like Operation Altoria has plans to keep on venturing into the unknown.

Beware! Fake Celebrities!

 

One of our journalists received a tip a few days ago that there was a congregation of celebrities at Northview Lane in the V5P district of EvoCity. Upon arrival however, they were greeted with a sea of fakes, who make a living off of pretending to be real celebrities. They were rude, arrogant, and ignorant around our journalist, as they openly planned to rob the apartment of real celebrity Jessica Summer.

Shortly after their meeting, the group of 8 or 9 fakes proceeded to walk down the street towards Jessica Summer's apartment in the V5P District. Using a lockpick, they broke into her home in the hopes that they could locate and steal her blood diamond. Upon entering, a rip-off Madeline Lajoie exclaimed "This place is povvo". A few minutes later, Jessica Summer returns...

The police rock up at her V5P district studio after a call is made, and find her place swarming with fakes. Initially there was confusion over who the real Jessica Summer was, as her fake was quite convincing. However, that issue was fixed fast due to excellent police work from the ECPD. The fakes who were involved with the elaborate heist were all arrested by the ECPD. For some unexplained reason though, the apartment caught on fire, forcing everybody to evacuate; this caused some of those arrested to escape justice, and they some are still out there, pretending to be someone they are not.

They often say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but not in this case.

EvoCity's New President

On the 30 May 2020, the citizens of EvoCity packed together to hear the candidates speak of their plans and agenda for EvoCity. It was a three-horse race between KAREN, the Socialists, and the Conservatives. So what went down?

 

Firstly, there was the campaign period, which was held over a period of almost 2 weeks, where the parties proudly hung their promotional material throughout all districts of EvoCity. After the citizens of EvoCity were subjected to the mass advertising campaigns, it was time to debate the messages set out by each of the candidates. Each of the candidates had a minute to appeal to their voter base and beyond about where they saw EvoCity going if they got the keys. Afterwards, several topics were discussed among the candidates, before the audience of citizens got face-to-face with the politicians to ask them about issues that mattered to them.

Following a brief final appeal from all the candidates, it was time to hit the polls. After an intense 2 week period, EvoCity finally got to know who won the 2020 Presidential Election. In the end, the KAREN won with 56% of the vote, with the Socialists close behind at 28%, and the Conservatives in a distant third at 16%.
