Project Rundown - Season 3

Spoiler :

The latest season of Project Runway, which was scheduled to be hosted at Cub Foods in the V5P District on 16 May at 8PM, was nothing short of a spectacle of chaos. Plagued with technical difficulties, last-minute host changes, and several no-shows from contestants, alongside a restless audience and confusing results; it is clear that things did not go to plan, and maybe the attitude of "the show must go on" was the wrong one to have for that night.

With the time almost being 8 O'Clock at night, there is a sea of guests, an entourage of contestants, and a flock of hosts all mingling amongst one another, and waiting to bet let in to the event to play their individuals parts. The first time fate tried to ward off the event from happening that night was when it was pushed back by an hour due to unspecified unforeseen issues. After an extended period of waiting, the doors were officially opened and the show had begun. It seemed as if this was a mere minor mistake, however looking back, it was probably a warning of things to come.

While everybody is piling in and getting seated, music starts playing to prevent the awkward dead silence of people waiting for the hosts to come out on stage. Several minutes later, the agonising wait ends as Violet Kittie emerges on the stage as one of the two hosts. She finally kicks off the mess that is to come. Brittney Storm is next on the stage as the second host. Shortly after the judges are wheeled out, the contestants are revealed and its not long before miscommunication causes intense confusion for all.

The contestants themselves were another factor in the clogging of the event's progression, as it quickly devolved into a game of who could wear the brightest, loudest, and most un-natural looking clothes. This was not helped by the fact that out of the 10 pre-announced contestants, only 6 actually attended on the night of the event, meaning the event was already 40% incomplete before it even began. This was clear when the audience size gradually sank over the course of the night from most seats being full to about a quarter of the seats being full. It is evident that the public's interest was quickly disintegrated by the obvious lack of co-ordination. One of the nails in the coffin for the event was the continuous use of outlandish outfits that nobody cares about. It seems that events like this rely on the use of silly costumes that are never seen again, and are simply there to top last year's dismal attempts.

Despite the comical clothing of who we shall refer to as "Dorito McCheese Feet" and "Deer Queen", the judges somehow managed to get to a vote on who the winner should be. Although it seems that the vote was more controversial and confusing than most political elections, with Conn Marshall and Gerry "Dorito McCheese Feet" Mangerine winning.

In the end, those who attended were left feeling insulted by how much of a shambles this once promising fashion show has turned into. Right now, it seems that this was a disappointing finale to the Project Runway franchise, as it's name has been tarnished as a result of the events of last week.

Project Runway - What Next?

Spoiler :

A wise quote that relates to failure and about not succeeding is "You never fail until you stop trying". It is possible that despite the miserable mess that was called Project Runway Season 3 was not the end of the line for the Project Runway franchise, and simply a new beginning. It could be said that this finale flop will force the people behind it to re-evaluate the format for Project Runway, and bring it back in a fresher, fancier, and formidable way somewhere down the line.

On the 18 May, Two days after the Season 3 event was held, Munger announced its intentions to sell of the Moonlite Productions company - the company behind Project Runway and the Jessica Summers brand. It is highly likely that this move was as a result of the failure of Project Runway Season 3, and that Richard Bones wants rid of what he may view now as dead weight.

Bidding for the Moonlite company were initially fast and low, with expectations for the brand being lowered in the public eye. However no further bids have been put forward in over 6 days, with the highest bid standing at $630,000 from Watts Holdings Limited, who may start to gain a reputation of acquiring well known and existing brands if this deal goes through.

In conclusion, the future of Project Runway hangs in the balance. Whether it will return with a new format or end forever is unclear. What is certain however, is that with recent returns and revivals of big names, maybe this is not the end of the Project Runway story.
