Climate

I want to have a discussion about climate.

But there are things I want to show you that I personally believe are the two biggest causes of climate change and it is this I will be pointing my effort towards discussing with you, if you so care to do so.

These websites are real time coverage of almost all ships and planes on earth today.

A boeing 737 uses around 2 tons for a take-off and has a fuel tank size varying on the model of about
17 - 26 thousand liters. That is a fuel capacity of approx. 20 tons. (Varying on the model)

747's are much bigger plane variants and also used by almost any airline in the world. It's weight
is significantly more and has a bigger fuel consumption.
It burns 4 liters of fuel a second in a regular altitude cruise.
To put this in perspective: Your cars fuel tank would be gone in 15 seconds.
There is usually around 14,000 planes in the air at any time. Here is the statistics for how many take-off each day.

In the sea it gets worse.

A cargo vessel does not operate on L/100 km but rather Tons/hour. To put that in perspective
your 1.6l 4cylinder hatchback has a tank of around 40 - 60 liters. A cargo ship can use hundreds of tons a day.
In countries where the regulations are little to none there are better opportunities for cheaper fuel, here they
use the cheapest, unrefined fuel they can find. Not only is it cheaper but it works as a better lubricant for the ships 120,000 HP+
engine. Increasing it's life expectancy.

These statistics did not take me a long time to find and I hope you do further research yourself.

What are your thoughts?

I admit I haven't done as much research as I should have, and as I'd have liked to do, but a few things are clear to me:
1) Renewable energy is undesirable to certain companies such as BP (who have bought patents to essentially quash renewable ideas in the past) because it'd make them less money - capitalism, yay.
2) A global climate change emergency needs to be called - leaders such as Trump need to accept the facts that it is indeed an emergency.

Connnnnnnn

Consider giving me a rep point here.

Indeed Trumps climate policy is beyond madness. There are practical limits to capitalism and a problem such as this one highlights these limits very clearly. If there is no money being made, nothing will be done.
