What is FailRP?
#1

FailRP is an event surrounding an action that your character commits that is not probable. This is going to be the best way to define it.

There are endless amounts of ways that a person can commit FailRP, but here are just a few common scenarios.

Spoiler :

Common FailRP As BMD (Black Market Dealer)

The Black Market Dealer is all in all a dealer of illegal items. A police officer cannot simply arrest you for being this class but they can if you give them a reason to. Advertising the sale of Black Market (The Widely Accepted market of illegal items) as well as making a store for these items is going to be enough reason for a police officer to take action and take you to jail.

Solution:

Pick what kind of role you want your character to be. Do you want to be that low level street dealer or a high-end supplier of illegal goods? Both roles are going to have their own requirements. A low level street dealer is going to set themselves up in a place that would be fitting, such as a back alley, a park, or even in a motel. You would be more public about the fact that you are selling illegal items, being the one to ask people if they need any certain items. If you are going to be a high-end dealer, you should probably think what kind of things that role would require. Your operations would likely be based in a warehouse. Security guards would likely be hired to guard the product and you would be contacted by the client first.

Common FailRP As Passive Classes (Chef, Doctor, Etcetera)

One of the most common sights of FailRP that a PassiveRP class can commit is equipping a firearm. It is very unrealistic for some of these classes to carry a gun and can be classified as FailRP.

Solution:

Call 911! Use /request if there is somebody you do not want in your store. If you don't believe they would have a fast enough response time, you could always hire a Security Guard.

Common FailRP As Non-Government Classes

One occurrence of FailRP that is seen constantly by non-government classes revolves around vehicles. Driving in the opposite lane, breaking traffic laws (Running stop signs and stop lights intentionally) can be classified as FailRP. It is unrealistic for someone to do these things without a proper reason. Just being impatient is not a good enough reason.

Another major example of FailRP that comes from non-government classes is the way people react to a hostile situation. For the most part, it is unrealistic for a civilian to be carrying a weapon around. You should always use /request and contact the police in the event that you feel threatened.

Common FailRP as President

One of the most frequent cases of FailRP from the Presidential class would be walking around outside of the Nexus without a security detail. Some other examples include..
  • Banning certain classes from the city without a proper reason
  • Setting taxes beyond a reasonable percentage without proper reason
  • Demanding the SRU to be his security detail

Common FailRP as Police

One of the frequent cases of FailRP arising from the police is when lethal actions are taken against someone for petty crimes. You should only resort to taking lethal action if a suspect is endangering lives. Evading the police is not always means for lethal action. You should always take the non-lethal approach if at all possible.

Solution:

In the event that a police chase is taking place, alert your fellow officers of the vehicle and location. Work together to box the vehicle in and allow you to get out and force the suspect out of their vehicle at gunpoint. (If they refuse to get out, this would be a violation of FearRP and should be handled by the staff members. Do not kill them for refusing to exit the vehicle)

Staying "In Character" is something quite important when it comes to roleplaying properly. Act like your person would act and make sure to stick to things they would be capable. This ties in to the following thing.

Make sure to use your best judgement when it comes to sticking to your role. Understand the boundaries that your class may have and try to stick within those boundaries! PassiveRP classes (Chef, Doctor, Paramedics, Firemen, Chauffeur, etc) are not going to be committing street crimes, carrying a weapon, or anything that you know they wouldn't do!

One of the biggest rules that co-exists with FailRP is FearRP. FearRP is the event where your character is in fear of their life and would not commit any actions that would go against that fear. The logic behind this rule can apply to many things, even just a simple traffic stop. A chef is not going to run a red light and evade the police!

What if im a racist cop and i see a black person jaywalk, can i then use lethal force? After all, he could have killed someone who had to suddenly turn the steering wheel what could make him crash into a pole killing the driver.

Recently, there has been a cleanup with the guides, SnowredWolf is checking alot of the guides, Teachers and above can post guides without the need of approval, however players needs Admin approval beforehand.

This post was there for a long time as public, he just removed all replies and posted "Guide Approved" like on any other approved guides.

Just a heads up. Smile
