Our purpose

Black Mesa, established 1952, is a multi-national corporation which undertakes research in a large variety of STEM fields, from standard scientific research to theoretical physics, experimental propulsion and space technology, robotics, genetics, cryogenics, zoology, applied mathematics, biotechnology, h͘͠ig̴h̛͠-͠te͘ch̛ ́̕͝w̵͞͞ęa̴po̧nr̨y̸̵͏ a̶̷̧n͢҉d̷͟ ̨̀d͜͞ȩ͜f̸̧̨ȩ͟ǹs̸̴͝e͜͏ ̧͘s̡y̧̢͢ś͘t̴e̸m̸̢s͏̴,̴̡͠ ̕v̷̴͏i̸͜r̡͘͝al͘͜ ҉w̶é̵a̴͟͠p҉o͝͏ņ͘ŗỳ̕, human cybernetics, radiation, energy production and a further wide spectrum of research and engineering. Recently, Black Mesa has gained a lot of public attention due to recent breakthroughs in their computing, chemistry and theoretical physics research departments.

Black Mesa Research Facility

Black Mesa was founded and is helmed by the United States government, in order to ensure that the United States continued to be one of the world’s leading scientific and technological players,̸̢̕ ̷͏a̴n̷̨̡d͏ ̨͠t̢̕͏o͜͡ ̶u̴̧͜n̢d̡ȩ̀͜r͟͝t̸ak҉̀e͠ ̶̛h̛i̸͢g͞hl̨y͏ ̧͏c͜ļ̸a̶śs̶i͏̀fi̧éd ̛r͏̸e̷҉şȩ͠a̕r̸҉cḩ͘ ҉f̶o̧͟͠r ҉̛̕t̡͝h͞҉è͟͢ ̵̢go̡̨͟v͝e̡rn̨͠͞me͝͠n̷t̀͜, ͜ iņ ̢̢́a̸̶ ͟l̴̵o̧̢̕ç̕a̧͘t̶̵̴i̴̛o͏̢͠n̢͟ ͡w̶̡h͘͟e̛r͟͝e̵ ͡ e͟thi͟c͘͟͢al̸̶̛ ̶͝ có́n͢s͟t͡r̀a̡҉i͡n̸̷ts ̷ẁer͞҉e ͟n҉o͢͜t̵͝ ͠a̢̛̕ņ̛ ҉i̢͢s͏́͏su̢͜e̴. Black Mesa’s headquarters and largest research facility is situated in New Mexico, USA; Called the Black Mesa Research Facility, it is arguably the most prestigious scientific research facility in the world. The facility was formerly a United States missile launch and testing complex, and in 1952 was converted into a basic, but secure, research facility, the conversion being subsidized by the United States government. Since then the facility has expanded massively. D͢ùe͞ ͏̵͜t҉o͟ t̨̀͟h̵͢͞e̢ ͜͞ş̛҉éns̷iţ̛i͟҉̶v̶̢̀è̶̀ ̡ǹàt̕͠͞ų͠r̡e͏ ̵̨̧o͘f̧͜͝ ̡̀͡c̵̵͘e҉́r̡͟͠t͢҉a͘in͘͘͡ ͏͡r̡ę͢s̛̛e̸̸͞a̶ŗ͝ the facility is sited far from any popular centres, and boasts a huge array of high-tech technology, and highly trained logistical support and security teams – As a result the facility is completely autonomous, and has superior support systems than that of most major American cities. Power is generated on-site, partially by a large hydro-electric plant and nuclear reactors; we pride ourselves on our green energy production. The facility has its own in-built transportation systems, as well as direct rail links to other cities.

The Black Mesa Research Facility houses the vast majority of our operations, and nearly all employees will either be housed there permanently, or visit on occasion. While the facility is extremely large and complex, it is divided into several sectors in which different research, engineering, and support facilities are housed. While a joint research project may take part in several different areas of the BMRF, each scientific discipline has its own headquarters in a specific sector; this highly structured method of organization helps us to work highly efficiently.

SECTOR C - Theoretical Physics department, incl. anomalous materials research, test labs, and control facilities

Sector C is the headquarters of the theoretical physics department and several of its subsidiaries, most notably the anomalous materials research laboratories. Dealing with advanced particle physics, our anomalous materials department has recently made several major breakthroughs in quark and lepton theory, and the study of antimatter. Sector C houses several test labs for the anomalous materials department, including the revolutionary anti-mass spectrometer in test lab C-33/a, one of the worlds most expensive scientific experiments to date, rivalling the LHC.

If you have a background in theoretical physics, process engineering or computational mathematics, please contact the Sector C administrator, as we are actively seeking new employees in this area. Prospecting in advance is not possible, as Sector C is a high-security area. Employees who work in Sector C will be required to take a secure train to and from work daily, and will be housed with their families in a different sector.

Employment at Black mesa

Working for Black Mesa has huge benefits. All of our employees, from top level research administrators to materials handling labourers enjoy high wages and medical support, as well as travel support and grants for research. The staff population at BMRF are served by cafeterias, restaurants, social lounges, physical training and recreational facilities, and personal quarters; staff families are housed on site, and children can enjoy excellent schooling. In the event of a medical emergency, we have hospitals and surgery units on site. The facility is highly secure, both for the protection of staff and their families, and in order to closely guard our research operations. Visitors and potential employees are required to undergo rigorous security checks to access most areas, and highly trained security guards á̸͢ņ͝d̡ ̶a͏̷̧u̷͘͜to͏m͏a̸̴̢t͜͜e͘͏d̸ d͝ȩ̀f̷̷̧è̵n͏̢s̴̕í͟͠v̡́e̡͟͝ ͘sý̸͘s͏͘t҉́é̷͜m̵̸͞ş are present everywhere. Our employees are amongst the safest in the world.

Employees hired in Evocity will have the opportunity to work not only at the laboratories, factories and supply depots that exist there, but at the Black Mesa Research Facility itself, as well as many locations across the globe. We are an equal opportunities employer, currently seeking employees with backgrounds in theoretical physics, biotechnology, and various other high-tech disciplines. Jobs in low-clearance security and materials handling are also available.

OOC// Normally groups and clans dictate what you should include in your personal application. Asides from the personal and security details, both IC and OOC, I have put in no such restriction. If you're going to apply, I want to see what quality of written RP you're capable of - Only your imagination and how much effort you're willing to spend limits you. Applicants should note that applications with a poor quality of English will not be accepted. Unlike most groups/clans, these applications are per IC character - You may apply more than once, for a new IC character, working in a new department. While some crossover is allowed for RP, an IC character who works in a biology department will not be able to suddenly swap to engineering or security. You can make a new IC character on the server; once you're in the group, a second application is not required, but appreciated as it adds to the RP backstory of Black Mesa.

Personal application:

Vincent Meyer was born as an only child in Washington D.C. His parents were high-class, working mostly overseas in places like Ethiopia to help the unfortunate people there, whilst he was taken care of by a babysitter. This allowed him lots of time to himself, and so his creative mind grew.

Vincent developed a strong sense of curiosity as his parents and housekeeper had realised throughout the years. By the time he entered high school in '99, he had already chosen what he wanted to do with his life. Similar to his parents, he knew he wanted to help people - but not how they did it, trooping through the African villages with aid packages and seminars... no, he wanted to be a scientist. He wanted to help the world in other ways.

After earning a scholarship to American University, D.C., he studied computational mathematics and theoretical physics. Vince wanted to piece together the universe and everything inside it, particle by particle. He achieved highly in University, earning him a Ph.D in theoretical physics and a master's degree in computational mathematics, as well as numerous other high academic achievements.

In late 2013, he flew to Evocity for a fresh start, as he saw the potential in this bustling city. He knew a medium-sized city such as this would be a good place for him to start his career as a scientist, and change the world...

In mid 2014, he saw news about Black Mesa Research Facility, and its constructions there in Evocity. Immediately, he knew it was there that he could make his living.

Vincent is a very curious man, with plenty of energy left in him at 29 years old. He is an adventurous type with high qualifications to handle high-level technology.

Signed,
Vincent James Myer

Sincerely,
ArcHammer

***You stare into the sky as you hear a slight whizzing sound. As a slim white object enters your view, you realize there has been a minor security breach. A small alarm could be heard in the distance as the white object closes in on your location. As it flies above you, you realize it is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, or a UAV. It soars close to a building near you, as it releases a package. The package falls through the roof of the building, and the UAV flies off.***

***As you perform the evacuation drill, you hear on your commissioned radio that an entry team has been dispatched to the building's location. As you and your fellow scientists line up in their selected locations, the entry team comes into view. You are able to see that they are wearing blast resistant suits and flak jackets. As they walk closer towards the building, you are able to make out a Black Mesa insignia on their backs. They assume their positions at the door, and break through it, escorting any civilian they see in their path. As you look through the window, you can see that they had found themselves in the room with the package. They set up a small perimeter, and send in a tall, armoured figure to inspect the package. He picks it up, and you are able to hear laughs from inside the building. They take off their protective helmets, and walk outside.***

***You are then able to hear the administrator saying that all scientists should resume their previous operations, through the intercom. You walk back to where you had been prior, and stare at the entry team leaving the scene. One of the team members tosses you the package and tells you to send it to the application drop inside the main building...***

____________________________________________

Personal Application:

For years, I've searched around the world, looking for my calling. Many things have caught my attention, whether it be astronomical physics, or knowledge engineering. For a person to focus on many fronts such as these sciences, difficulty and torment could easily invade the mind. In my personal opinion, it is best to work on one thing at a time, so you could put your mind to that one thing. For the sake of example, if I were to study for an examination and prepare dinner at the same time, each objective would be faded, and would not be completed to the fullest extent it could have been. Ergo, one must focus on one thing at a time, to ensure it's sufficient completion. I've studied many things including robotics and human anatomy, and plan to use the information I have obtained on the subjects, to ensure an exceptional opportunity for attaining a well-paying, and ethical profession.

____________________________________________

As you would want to know more about me, I shall write a small autobiography below:

At age five, I had travelled the vast world, and had gone to many interesting places. I was extremely attentive to the things I had witnessed at the time. I had seen the exemplary engineering of the Eiffel Tower, along with the astonishing architecture of Hadrian's Wall. My family was more on the wealthy side, and they also knew many people, ergo, we got around.

I was placed in a private schooling system, where I had learned advanced instruction for my age. At around twelve years of age, I had mastered Algebra, and had started to learn advanced trigonometry, including the laws of sines and cosines. At the advanced speed I had been obtaining knowledge, I soon realized I had been studying too much, and had seen that I lost many friends and acquaintances. Due to this, I took a short break, and travelled the world with my family, to meet new friends.

Apparently, many of these "friends" were almost as knowledgable as I was, and we all began to compete in a game of intelligence. This soon brought rivalries. At the brink of adulthood, I began to use my knowledge as a guide. I sought out many jobs including working for Google, and also invested in stock. I soon found out that I had made enough money to retire early. At the age of thirty-three, retirement is a foolish idea, so I sought out new objectives. This is where I had found information about your corporation, Black Mesa. I found that, with the correct perquisites, I could apply for a job and evolve my knowledge even further. As I looked into Black Mesa with more detail, I realized it was the right place for me.

____________________________________________

As you have now read more about me, I'd now like to write why I want to have a profession in your corporation:

·  To evolve my knowledge of robotics and sciences.
·  To aid the world and support Black Mesa as a whole.
·  To ensure Black Mesa remains one of the largest research corporations in the world.
·  To find a true objective, and to stick with it.

____________________________________________

With these objectives in hand, I believe my passion and determination for research and knowledge would take over, making my time at Black Mesa very influential and important.

Thank you for reading my Application.
     Sincerely,

Wallace Breen

Dear Dr Breen,

I am applying for this job, which I was made aware of by a contact, Dr. Isacc Kleiner, because I strongly believe in the future and potential of theoretical physics in relation to scientific advancement and awareness. I wish to work for a corporation that is well established and has an amazing reputation and goal in the scientific industry.

I believe I have the required skills and assets for this job. I am obedient, dedicated and will always put research before all of my other tasks, unless necessary.
I have studied and graduated from MIT, earning a Ph.D in theoretical physics. Moreover, after my graduation I travelled to Austria to observe a series of teleportation experiments conducted by the Institute of Experimental Physics in Innsbruck. I was asked to help assist them with research, and I have found some extremely interesting theories and hypothesizes on the destruction and reconstruction of matter that I wish to create a module on.

As well as being specialised in Physics, I am able to take on a responsibility and make good decisions under pressure. I am reliable and punctual and I have a good knowledge on what you do, and the subjects you revolve around.

In addition, I would like to say that this is a job I would enjoy and find interesting. I find your aims fascinating, and I wish to be a part of the growing knowledge and power. I am polite, respectful and fair and I would get along with my co-workers.

For all of the above reasons, I believe I am the correct candidate for the job.

I have enclosed my CV and I am available for an interview whenever required. I look forward to hearing your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Gordon Freeman.

Attached is my CV.
(Bloody thing wouldn't post... spent like 30 minutes writing it too.)

Thank you for Falcon for giving my inspiration for my application
